With the exception of Dubfire, Noefrini and Gary Beck, I'd go see any of those over Hawtin. But some of them I consider more big room tech house than techno.

i have no idea what the hell happened to this thread but i apologize if it was me who started it.

Woony,- to be honest i stopped reading RA a couple of years ago and basically now just peruse the website so im probably out of the loop on their old minimal fascination and lack of talking about 90s techno and house, ill take your word for it. I would still argue that as a whole the website is basically DJ Mag for hipsters and really ignores certain genres and producers and history for arbitrary and lets be honest business interests of who they are promoting their website to.

and I just wanted to say one thing about Hawtin, i actually didnt mean to imply that richie didnt deserve the attention. What he did at the beginning was legendary and he deserves his place in electronic music history, my main problem is that a guy like Lieb should also be getting that praise and adulation but wont because of the genre he was making in the 90s.

Nice try though.

It's not a quote, it's a paraphrase, but thanks for the input. I understand exactly what your point is, and it's ridiculous. Everything you've said basically screams to anyone knowledgeable "My town is a complete backwater and the crowds are clueless!" If you're a DJ like Adam who plays a fairly niche sound, the last thing you want is to play in an "emerging club scene" hundreds of miles away from home. You want to play in a big, thriving scene where there are loads of specialist parties and promoters you can get involved with. Why the fuck you would mention names like Patterson, Afrojack and Avicii in defence of your argument is absolutely beyond me.

You seem to be under the laughable notion that a DJ promoting himself on Facebook means he's a crazed fame-hungry whore. Truth is, like any DJ, Adam will have a lot of friends on Facebook who are clubbers, promoters and fellow DJs, and all DJs actively hype their own gigs through social media to alert people in the same scene who might be interested in coming down and checking the party out. It's a necessary part of the game, and most underground promoters ask their DJs to do this because it's an effective form of marketing for parties which don't have a huge budget or visibility. It doesn't mean Adam is going to bite your hand off if you offer him a gig in Zimbabwe opening up for DJ Genocide.

This is basically a re-run of what lead to your legendary COR meltdown: you talking aggressively and confrontationally about DJing and promoting when you're clearly fucking clueless on the subject. You spend this entire thread sniping sarcastically from the sidelines, but when you actually come forth and try and express some sort of knowledgeable position, it's usually total horseshit.

No, it's SRUSSELL as usual. You may as well brace for about five pages of shit filler comebacks, condescending smileys and impotent anger. It'll keep us busy until the next list comes out, I suppose.

So Voices From The Lake got #1 album. Guess that means old school ambient techno's due for a comeback. Trance can't be far behind then.

Trance on RA? Never. It's a matter of principle.

Listen to this shit. It's done by one of the coolest/most credible techno producers out there and it's pretty much trance, it's just called techno.

And as I've said in my best of 2012 post, yeah, old school UK ambient techno has been making a comeback in some producers sound.

And listen to this http://hardwax.com/66766/samuel-kerridge/auris-interna/

The first track literally could be the opener for a B12 record in 1993.

SystemJ you look EXACTLY how I would picture you. I think it's hilarious that you give people detailed descriptions of what you think I'm going to do whenever I have any kind of quasi-heated exchange with anyone, and you're wrong 100% of the time. It's kind of funny since you pride yourself on being "right" all the time.

Edit: In addition to that, I think it's perfectly relevant to point out that big name DJs have been coming to this city recently. Deko-ze is hardly a "big name" as well, and people like Honey Dijon have also been coming (to the same club in fact). I'm not sure how that's not relevant, when Honey Dijon packed a club playing deep house (a show that I went to). The huge jocks have been playing at the Main St. Armory, where they can fit a few thousand people, not to the club in mention which only holds a few hundred.

RA's top album list is kinda blah.

Also, srussell, I'm friends with Adam on facebook as well, and while he does post images of the events he's involved with (as does EVERY other DJ/promoter on facebook), it never came across to me as spam. Dunno what you're talking about.
