Whistler has a major major problem which we learned when we got there 2 years ago.
It is too low. The peak is only at 6500 feet and the base is around 1000. Most places in the rockies start around 5000-7000 feet.
The reason this is an issue is when you get a sudden warm spell right aroudn freezing, as we did. It rained pretty much all week giving us nothing to ski on the lower 2/3rds of the mountain and a lot of heavy wet powder up top. My roomate went up one morning by himself and it was pouring rain at the peak. This was the second week of January too, not late season or anything.
Whistler village was pretty cool though.
I need to get in shape and get back into skiing. I was a pretty damn good skiier when I was 7, I learned to ski at Vail...parents have a timeshare there, but moving away from mountains meant I did not ski for close to 15 years.
