Basically it's a "he said, she said," "would have, could have, might have" type of debate. No side will win the other over in this way and no side will be able to justify its position this way. It boils down to who you're more prone to believe or not believe. Because each side has reasons why they could or could not be telling the truth, there's nothing more to be said.

1.This's not my words ,my comments on their statements ........

"Their statements are said in their HOME Britain" not in IRAN

The 1st statement 'The past two weeks have been very difficult "but by staying together as a team we kept our spirits up", drawing great comfort from the knowledge that our loved ones would be waiting for us on our return to the UK'.

The 2nd "From there we were rushed into a room and then stuffed into a cell and didn't see another human being for six days."

it doesnot need "any ridiculously points"
These are said in Britain, there's no pressure.

2.EVERY word in any statement has a weight and a meaninng
it's not just a chillout or shit-chats.

these statements are viewed to the puplic AND "depended on them".

So, unless something new and ground breaking comes out from either side, believe what you'd like but realize that with this type of discussion the possibility of swaying the other side is nil.

U miss something is very dangerous..........
actually u 'll not admit and agree any intelligent activities on your country USA

From the British not Iranian news

"We Gathered Intelligence"

We Gathered Intelligence

Updated: 22:05, Thursday April 05, 2007

The captain in charge of the 15 marines detained in Iran has said they were gathering intelligence on the Iranians.

Sky News went on patrol with Captain Chris Air and his team in Iraqi waters close to the area where they were arrested - just five days before the crisis began.

We withheld the interview until now so it would not jeopardise their safety.

And today, former Iranian diplomat Dr Mehrdad Khonsari said if the Iranians had known about it, they would have used it to "justify
taking the marines captive and put them on trial".

Captain Air and his team were on an 'Interaction Patrol' where their patrol boats came alongside fishing dhows.

The operation was mainly to investigate arms smuggling and terrorism but Captain Air said it was also to gain intelligence on Iranian activity.

He told Sky Correspondent Jonathan Samuels: "Basically we speak to the crew, find out if they have any problems, let them know we're here to protect them, protect their fishing and stop any terrorism and piracy in the area," he said.

"Secondly, it's to gather int (intelligence). If they do have any information, because they're here for days at a time, they can share it with us.

"Whether it's about piracy or any sort of Iranian activity in the area. Obviously we're right by the buffer zone with Iran."

Well int(intelligence)activities on Iranian Activity
1.Of course this's against the Iranian political consultation.

2.This's against the strategic dialogue and in the field of security and national defense ,the state's security and its contents strategy.

3.This's against the sign of any agreements or international or regional treaties that could endanger the security risk.

5.This's a existential threat to the position of the state and its national identity.

Again, Iran simply gave ammo to terrorist lovers like some of those found right here on this forum so they could try to argue this absurd point. The point is Iran illegally seized them and took them hostage.

How does being paraded on TV cancel being treated properly. For all the empty rhetoric you spew you have quite the hard time making any logical arguments. You haven't provided one single valid argument as to how they were mistreated more than what the media has let on to. But then again there are contradicting statements between the different media outlets, and even between the soldiers.

Right because the government of England is all good and innocent and never lies. All governments are known for lies, and I'm pretty sure either of us would have trouble trying to establish that either side is on average more truthful or more deceiving so you're argument doesnt make much sense.

I agree. This thread has become a monument to the stupidity of those who so love terrorists and oppressive governments that they cannot even exercise one bit of common sense when it comes to the situation with the kidnapped soldiers.

Of course the soldiers looked like they were treated well in the propaganda shots done in Iran. Fuck people, what do you think propaganda is? Are they going to show these people being questioned at gunpoint?

If you are my neighbor and I walk out of my house onto the sidewalk between our two homes and you point a gun at me and force me to go into your house of course while I was there I would say you are treating me well, I would look happy, etc even if you are torturing me. But when I get home and I have my own guns to protect me and am not in danger from you any more then I'm going to speak the truth and say how you treated me like shit.

Common ass sense here people. Even you terrorist lovers have to acknowledge it.

Not relevant to the discussion. Branding someone as a terrorist lover is just an easy excuse to brush off any sort of discussion. True, many here are quite fanatic about their views but many good points have been raise.

Propaganda works both ways. Even if they were questioned in a manner that is not in concordance with the Geneva convention, the country you so fervently defend does the same and worse.

True, but if your neighbour is spying on you and you two have an ongoing feud that changes the situation a bit now doesnt it. There's already been proof posted that this team of people did reckon missions near Iranian waters. So again, if your neighbor with whom you are feuding gets close to your fence to once again (the british have already crossed ilegally into iranian waters before) what would you do? Maybe Iran should've dialed 911 no? Maybe call the police?

Hardcore Trancer, is it SO HARD to think that IRAN could have put them up to confessing? I don't understand how you can take the side of Iran who has a far more insignificant price to pay by lying about them confessing, if the British were caught by the media forcing their own soldiers to make staged speeches the entire British demeanor would be put into question by the international community.

If Iran decides to wage the propaganda war (which they have in the past, in fact they have a propaganda department as part of their government) the most they have to lose is 1 of their remaining what, 3 brownie points with the international community?

I dont speak with ANY certainty, I know governments are capable of some crazy things (Western governments CERTAINLY included) but come on, the stakes speak for themselves in this case I believe.

And lets face it, Iran is just pissing people off a little too much, I hope they don't try to capture some American soldiers because the Americans wont send in diplomats

There are people on this board who love to dismiss someone as a neocon because of their views. These people typically are terrorist sympathizers or are sympathizers of terrorist supporting/extremist governments. So I'm calling a spade a spade here. If they can call me a neocon I can call them a terrorist lover. If you don't like that term then stop supporting terrorists and extremist governments.

That was not the argument here. The argument that is being promoted by the terrorist lovers is that the British soldiers looked happy and well treated in propaganda video shot while they were kidnapped in Iran. Then they get home and say that they were not so happy and that the Iranians were not treating them as well as it appeared. The terrorist lover argument is that what the soldiers said and did under duress in captivity in Iran was the truth and now that they are home and free to say anything they are lying. This flies in the face of common sense.

No, it does not change the situation at all. If I walk out of my yard and onto the public sidewalk which is basically 'international waters' I can do whatever the hell I want and you have no right to kidnap and detain me by force. If I step on to your driveway that’s a totally different story. The issue here is that the Iranians are claiming the public sidewalk is actually part of their driveway when nobody else in the neighborhood recognizes that claim.
