Dion is riding the green bandwagon and as the economic condition worsens it's becoming more and more of a burden on his campaign IMO. No one gives a shit about emissions when they can't afford to pay their mortgage. |
that's fear-mongering, IMHO.
unless you're one of those who have lost their job in the manufacturing sector thanks to the current gov't (at various levels), the current "crisis" does not impact your ability to pay your mortgage, except for fuel prices.
rates are still at a low point (despite the banks erasing discounts, now adding premiums) to variable rate loans. Fixed rates are still below 6%. Your portfolio could have dropped 50% and your home could have lost 20%...that has NO bearing on your ability to pay your mortgage.
As for fuel prices...cry me a river. Live closer to where you work and shame on you for buying that SUV in the first place (yes, I'm exaggerating).
I'm sick of the comparisons to the U.S., because that's NOT happening here.
We're seeing panic selling and irresponsible behaviour all over hte market which is making matters worse.
Some have suggested halting trading (as they did after 9/11) to let people settle the fuck down and stop contributing to the volatility. Not such a bad idea, perhaps?
