*sigh* I have to agree with you on this. In and of itself biologically being gay doesn't directly help propagate species. But we're not bacteria, so there's other factors involved that help propagate our species. In other words if we were ALL gay we would be aware that we have to mate with the other sex to keep our species alive and would do so. Bacteria wouldn't know to do this.
If this is your only reason to justify that a gay family is deviant, then I'll buy it. But if you use this to discriminate against gays i.e. voting against gay marriage, then you obviously have other biases and hidden agendas that you're trying to cover up with this "functional" excuse.
