We burned down your white house before, does that still make us more powerful?
Ok... now some interesting facts....
Let's look at the last standings in Torino;
teh krauts seemed to have dominated the yanks
This is the amount of athletes come home with medals. Hockey is the crown jewel in the Winter Olympics pantheon, and as such should be given the proper weight, importance, and recognition it deserves. A two-week long hockey tournament involving hundreds of athletes is not worth the same as a 1 minute 30 second ski run and a couple dozen lycra-wearing pufters.
For it doesn't matter how many events are won, but how many athletes are going home with hardware. And I'd rather see 23 gold medals around necks for winning 1 sport, than 1 gold medal for winning 1 event.
