That is a preset.

Take two saw waves, overlay them, detune one 50 percent above the other, and run them through an ADSR envelope, with lots of attack and sustain.

Save as a patch in Roland JP-8000 analogue modelling synthesizer. Pass around to Dutch friends. Import into Native Instrument's Pro 53 subtractive virtual synth. Fiddle around with minor chord progressions (chiefly D minor) until something uplifting occurs. Voila: A genre is born.

Ferry's System F, Albion and Gouryella productions predate them by several years.

Who do you think Rank 1 got the "Airwave" sound from?

And does it seem more than a coincidence that not soon after Tiesto's been hanging around with Ferry that all of a sudden his tracks have the same sound quality as Ferry's productions?

Producers trade sound files and samples like cards. Why bother spending several stupid hours recreating a specific sound from scratch, after all, when you can just borrow the original source patch from the guy who made it?

Ferry's "supersaw" preset is like a really famous photoshop plugin...addictive, but overused, and I don't think it's really impressing people anymore.

Yup, but who exactly?

My point is that I was talking about a classical composer or an interpreter of the classical music. I think many of them would say that all the edm is crap because it has no live instruments, it has not any emotions and so on.. And now there are people talking about the ASOT generic stuff etc and itīs imo a nice parallel. I still think there are artists nowadays whoīre pushing the genre and all the edm forwards.. Trance is not dead, nothing like that is happening right now, there are only people who are just bound to their musical beginnings (emotionally as well, thatīs why because they canīt stand the world is changing without them and why they whine all the time).
