6.5/10 creates a great atmosphere, but i didn't care for the characters that much...could have been better, maybe the book....

8/10 Wow. very nice drama. who did what

Un Prophete
6.5/10 Decent film. felt kind of long at times, but it kept you interested long enough to see it through

8/10 I loved it. COD MW2. reach for your Desert Eagle!!!

Inglorious Basterds
6/10 first scene/act was near brilliant. Christoph Waltz carried the film on his shoulders, and each time he wasn't on screen, the film felt lacking.

Broken Embraces (Los Abrazos Rotos)
6/10 not the best from Almodóvar, but still has his touch. loved the scene where she comes into the room to see herself confessing to the camara. loved it!

Saw "Daybreakers" last week. Terrible movie. Don't be fooled by the cool trailer.

Food Inc. (documentary)
7.5/10 good journalist work. doesn't gross you out, but still plays at your emotions. what i learned is: we as consumers dictate what is sold to us.

FINALLY saw Avatar. I was hoenstly a little skeptical about all the hype. The CGI didn't look particularly real in the previews. I was blown away though. Saw it in 3D, and it really is an amazing movie...not even so much the story (which was cool btw) but visually it was really something. James Cameron is the man. I really hope it doesn't take him another 10 years to make his next movie.

Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire
7/10 in the hands of a better director this movie could have been solid. the transitions where Precious goes into her imagination, to escape her reality, are poorly done and if anything they make the film lose the momentum it had until then.



La Teta Asustada (Milk of Sorrow)
7.5/10 i enjoyed it but it is not for everyone. you may need to know some of the history of Peru, be familiar with its people. there are certain scenes where the director creates magic, but these are short and wide apart and then you find yourself back in Lima, a city i can not love.

El Secreto de sus ojos (The secret in their Eyes)
8/10 Wow, that ending. Ricardo Darín, my fav latin actor, does not disappoint. Another great film by Juan José Campanella, great plot, and solid directing. can't wait for his next film, this guy has talent.

I'm just curious, to everyone cumming themselves over Avatar...have you seen other 3-D Imax films? Just curious, because I hear all these great things, but the storyline looks completely cliched. Besides the Pocahontas reference mentioned, it also reminds me of Dances with Wolves (having not seen Avatar), as well as a few other films I've seen. I just can't envision enjoying 3 hours of more copycat plot.

I guess you'd have to be Peruvian to really get it (are you?). I personally loved the movie (thanks Youtube), I just wish I spoke Quechua. It was a very cute, colorful way of showing the ignorance in poor settlements around Lima, always trying to rationalise everything with some mythical story tied to incan folklore. To peruvians, this movie hits home in more ways than one. In a deeper level, it's an almost poetic way to talk about topics that broke the country for so long and are still taboo, like terrorism in the 80's, violence against women and children, how poor people are exploited by the privileged, etc, etc, etc. Magaly Solier was excellent for the role.

I'm very happy it's nominated for the academy award, this would really get the ball going for the film industry to grow therefore bringing jobs to the country.

Law Abiding Citizen (8/10)
Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx. Perfect Casting and an overall great suspense movie. Gerard Butler is a prisoner and hes able to kill people while being locked up...thats all Ill say youll have to watch the rest its worth it.

Gamer (6.5/10)
Once again, Gerard Butler delivered. Great movie if you are into Halo etc or have watched Dexter on Showtime since Michael C Hall is in it.
