for the first time, sensation white 2006 had more house than trance. im hearing reports that electro is more popular in netherlands than trance. what the hell is this world coming to.

nemesis, what the hell are we supposed to do about it? the only thing I can think of is make anti electro t shirts, like a red circle with a line through it, because i truly believe electro is what's killing trance.

what I've done to help trance is what I've been doing all along: i send my friends good trance live sets. I just mailed 3 dvd's of videos and stuff to my friend in cali. they almost always say the stuff rocks and want more of it, but they also say they still like ELECTRO.

haha.. electro isn't what's killing trance.. I'm a firm believer that the damage is coming from the trance scene internally as it's clearly been thrown off balance and not taking to the changes very well or sustaining itself well enough. I love great electro personally, the electro I play has so many progressive elements to me that it just feels like another form of energetic progressive house. Some fresh sounds which I am finding tracks with elements of progressive, techno, and disco rolled into one. There's crap, but same as any genre the good and the bad.

There's a fair amount of excitement in the scene towards electro.. and that excitement spreads. That's why hype is so important, cause it's excitement, it spreads and draws more people to it. The trance scene needs things to get a bit more interesting and exciting to those within it as well as to outsiders. I have one key idea to make things a bit more interesting/positive around here which I'm going to bring up soon. But really, there are a lot of different angles and things to try and when enough people get on board and motivated and taking some ownership in the state of things and wanting to help, then we will most certainly start to see some differences. I don't need to tell any of you how many countless times in history a whole bunch of people getting on the same page with something and getting motivated were able to make big influential things happen.

Are we supposed to keep offering trance, when it's really mostly foreigners expecting us to do so?

I've heard almost no one complain about the line-up here in Holland, all the whining about "Sensation white should have more trance" comes from foreigners, who clearly don't even know what Sensation is all about.

There's nothing realistic about thinking you can't make a difference or building up a mental wall about what you can and can't do. I've spent a good portion of my life outside the box walking through those invisible walls people build up about different things. There are much greater challenges in the world than helping to repair the trance scene.

and you're right the lineup complaints came from every country except holland.

so trance is not the most popular form of dance music currently in holland? but it was just mentioned earlier in the thread by a few people that trance is strong as ever in europe. NL is like the last fort stronghold of trance. if we lose NL, trance is surely doomed. shit.
