Every so often, I come across something that is so grand and breath-taking, that I don't quite understand how others can't enjoy it. Or at least appreciate it. It's like The Fountain, which I just recently saw... it was easily the most beautiful movie I've ever seen. Did I 'get' all of it? Well, not at first -- I had to read some lengthy explanations, theories, etc. and dive into discussions, but that was all part of the greatness of it. |
I seen The Fountain today I also enjoyed it immensley like TBU it was love or hate, I followed Aronofsky's interviews long before it came out so I knew what I was expecting. The people that have contemplated the themes that he put forth (death, afterife, god, myth etc) were he's target audience...in a cinema of 10 half walked out during the first 5 minutes. Honestley with enough listens there hasn't been anything that Brian has released that I didn't like, Emotional Technology which was panned is one of my favourite albums when the ÇD grew on me I immediatley went out and grabbed the vinyl which contains some choice extended versions. One could only imagine how good the lost ET tracks were which disapeared after the studio break-in one in particular was a collab with Peter Gabriel
TBU is a future classic currentley my new kick is going for long walks in the still of the night listening to TBU...it also just won 'Essential Echoes' 2006 CD of the year http://www.echoes.org/de.essential06.html
