if you "look straight" and "talk straight", how do you make it known to (and how do you spot) other gay guys? the assumption is that any given person is straight, given that the majority of guys are straight.
given that society has historically referred to gay men as 'less' than a man, or equated them more with women (again, in a 'lower' sense vs. men) the movement towards adopting (consciously or not) "feminine" traits or other markers, like a lisp of some sort, isn't terribly hard to understand. |
