Yes but I wasn't talking about the grand-scheme of society or life or our universe and neither were you.
I was talking about our scene, on a forum dedicated to our scene, in regards to an artist who contributes to our scene, who is being bashed in a thread originally started by a fan who is excited for his upcoming debut in our city.

but i don't necessarily have to respect things i find unimportant. we were talking about giving him respect. normally respect is given to things people find important. i.e., parents, employer, etc...

This scene may be a career now, but it is even more so passion for which I have had since I was young.
You obviously like EDM so it is a pleasure in your life. How much fun would your life be if your pleasure's were taken away from you? |
it is a pleasure, but a very minimal pleasure. and you are right, life would suck without pleasure, but like i said, it's one of the first things that would go for me.

I disagree, what would your life or society in general be without Arts & Entertainment?
|
you are correct that life would blow without arts, but like we already established, EDM is a very very small part of the arts. EDM doesn't become important because it is a small part of a much larger group of activities that is important as an aggregate. without EDM everyone would simply like a different type of music. some things in life have replacements. genres of music fall within that category.
EDIT: Actually, i can respect him for his hard work and dedication to something that is important to him. it doesn't impress me that he's where he is today. what impresses me is that he worked his way to get where he is. i was getting hung up on the wrong shit when you listed all his "accolades." To me, big fuckin deal, the process of getting there is what i can respect.
