No way. Just dive right in.

For sure. And if it is your first semester all of those classes are pretty much blow off easy classes.

Totally. 101 and 102 classes at most. If you dive right in you wont have to worry about having to double the work load later. It'll be more consistent.

yeah, i have to agree somewhat. they are definitely good courses to take to ease back into a school sched after 7 yrs off. however, "math" is a very general term for a course needed for mechanical engineering. i would hope that the subtitle of that course is "calculus 1" or higher. otherwise you have a long way to go.

Yeah at worst for an engineer you'd be looking at Calculus II, Gen Chem, Physics, and english or some shit like that, maybe a frosh engineering course.

Even if you're not in Cal 1 or higher don't let that discourage you. I transferred colleges twice before I committed to chemistry. I had Cal 1 from UIW in high school, but something about being more than three years bullshit they made me start from the beginning at Algebra, so just do whatever you have to do.

"I think the scientific and the artistic spirit have something in common. The scientist wants not only to learn the facts, but to understand how they cohere, fit together and make a whole. He even uses criteria such as beauty and symmetry to help decide which theory he wants.
The scientist cannot capture the whole cosmos in thought. In his mind he makes a kind of microcosm, which we see as an analogue of the cosmos. In this way we try to get a feeling for the whole. The artist, I suppose, gets a feeling for the whole some other way.”

They should have let you take some sort of placement test, shouldn't they?

That is a nice assumption however I still feel it is a waste of time and money to pay for something you can pick up for cheaper faster elsewhere. And I do know a lot of people living/working in Germany. Guess what? They can't speak German.
