it's hard to add new stuff to a set if a dj is travelling around the globe for much of the year isn't it? meaning it's hard for them to be able to grab new tracks from home while they're jet setting. and (this is my opinion only, not a knock or anything) seeing multiple sets from one dj in a year kinda makes each individual set less special to me. so to me, pvd's set was so rocking, only because i saw him for just the 2nd time this year (first being april at the roxy). just my thoughts

I know I'm way late responding to this thread, but OMG what a stressful week I had last week!

Anyway... PvD was AWESOME! I'd never seen him before, since I wasn't in NYC for the Central Park show. Even though I saw him for like 20 mins at Virgin Megastore last month, I don't quite think that counts...

I met up with Leandro and his friend X, and we tried getting there early, around 11:30 or midnight, to buy tix. The bouncers referred us to a long line across the street from the club, saying that all people without tickets "might" be let in at 2 or 2:30am. Well, since I live so close to the club, we went home till 2am, came back, and managed to cut the line...most of the kids there were on E and didn't even notice. We got into the club by 3am and OMFG.... I was in heaven even before I got into the main area of the club. We went to the dancefloor, which was so packed all I could do was hop. We ran into EnigmaT, said hi, and then made our way up to the front, where I saw politicsofdancin, hitokiri, lunasea, and a bunch of other TAs, some new and some old. I was right up in the front for the rest of the set.

what a wonderful wonderful night... I was absolutely exhausted, and nearly fell asleep a few times actually, but it was so worth it. Stumbling home at 9am never felt so good.

that sounds about right.. in retrospect, i wasn't too happy with it either.. listening to mayday 2002 just yesterday reminded me why PvD used to be incredibly good. There is too much CHEESE being played... too much junk.

to everyone who was complaining and stuff...

this is not me causing more stupid drama- but seriously, i really don't think we realize how good we have it when pvd comes to nyc.. he only does 6 hr sets in berlin and nyc for one. the lights were absolutely fabulous, the sound was great, the crowd wasn't bad..and pvd absolutely had flow to his set.

no where in the States does a set like that happen. and i really think those of you who are being really picky about it being 1> too hot 2> too packed 3> too loud 4> my ass was itchy 5> etc are being way too picky about this. nyc is soo spoiled when it comes to pvd.. we get him so often and for so long. chicago wasn't a quarter as good, and a 2hr set in boston really can't take you on a journey like a 6hr can. glow? let's not even go there-- my ears bleed every time i go there, even when i got my earplugs in.

point is: damn, we got it good w/ pvd in nyc; perhaps people's standards are way too high? dunno. peas.
