shan u just reminded me! some of those go go dancers were just
especially the girls selling the cigarettes. i think they were even better.

Talking

A lot of people had very high expectations for Tiesto's return to the Docks - especially since all the people who didn't make it out last year heard about what a great party they missed.

I arrived at 10PM and dropped off tickets to Vlad & callie5 who had won them in the contest. Callie had an extra ticket and I told her earlier in the week I'd buy it off her, got it for $40 and literally 1 min later I run into Rabbitjoker and asked him if he knew anyone who needed a ticket and he said no - then Hardcore Trancer shows up and his sister is on the phone trying to get a ticket, so I sold her that one. Good timing I know of ppl who paid $200 to get tickets off of scalpers later on, that is just INSANE - and a sign that Toronto was long overdue for a big party at a different venue.

Waited for some friends and went in just past 11 and immediately noticed the massive coatcheck lineup. It took us over 30 mins to check our jackets, but, it was better than freezing your ass off on the way out. I'm sure this will be corrected for the next party.

I see Sean already posted and just want to thank him again for playing a great set - I remember you playing a Depeche Mode tune - sounded like the one PvD also played in his Essential Mix back in 1997 - the name escapes me - top notch

When Tiesto came on the place pretty much erupted with energy - its not often enough that you see the majority of the crowd dancing.. I thought he played to the crowd rather well, his set seemed to flow and (at least for me) there weren't any "ugh, where's the next track" moments. I was very surprised to hear Yahel - "Voyage" (a.k.a. Eyal Barkan - "Viagra") - same goes for Airtight. Surprisingly he didn't drop Surburban Train, but, it is an oldie (however I'll still never get sick of hearing it).

Reading some of the reviews on here I have to say that some of the negative posts (esp. from ppl who didn't even go) make me shake my head. Yes, Tiesto is popular. Yes, Tiesto is '#1 DJ in the world' 3 years running -- this just makes him an even easier target. Obviously he is going to play a lot of his own tracks (from various albums, etc) - an artist's main objective is to promote their own work - just like PvD wouldn't stop playing 'Nothing But You' for what seemed like forever. There is nothing wrong with this, as long as you're playing for the crowd in attendance and they're enjoying it. If he went up there and played a whole bunch of unreleased tunes then many of those at the party would wonder why they can't recognize the music -- TAs are more musically involved than the avg. person - what seems 'old' to us is 'new' to lots of others - and where is this music elitism - gino/gina - "what's he/she doing here taking up my precious dance floor space" attitude coming from? Much of the scene grew from acceptance and a love of the music - independent of race/sexuality/what u looked like - it's sad to see ppl not remembering this simply because this event was so popular and it attracted ppl who (in your eyes) wouldn't normally have come to an EDM party. Much of the crowd I saw there that night was representative of the bigger parties in 98/99.

I think the TA meetup happened a bit too early - we were all scattered throughout the place all night but I met some TAs (and n00bs too) - you guys/gals partied the hardest in there - + Cuzo the energizer bunny. I also ran into other partiers I hadn't seen in years. It was funny talking to some 'old schoolers' in attendance who told me they really didn't care much for 'Trance' in general but enjoyed what they heard that night (I love contradictions like that).

Anyways, props to the Docks, Project Orange, TR and everyone else who helped make this party happen, it was one many of us won't soon forget.

LOL!!

i never said anything negative, i gave constructive criticism, and im sure its something tiesto wants to hear in order for himself to improve and see what some people expect from him in the future. this is something every artist strives for. im sure he doesnt plan on standing still at the same level

like i said before, it was an awesome night, i had my fun, and like i said earlier......Tijs Kicked Ass

No doubt, i just wish some newer tunes were played.

HOWEVER!!! I GOTTA SAY THIS!

Because if i dont, ill feel like im lying to myself and everyone else here especially Tiesto:

THAT NIGHT REMINDED ME OF HIS MAGIK DAYS.

A++++++++++++++++++!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And to sean miller once more:

THANK YOU SO MUCH for playing Xpander!!!!

And if tiesto is reading this: MAX GRAHAM - AIRTIGHT

CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE YA FOR THAT!!!

There was this old club night-shot camcorder video this one TA sent me over IRC when Urban Train was in promo. I would've gone nuts to experience that live!

But alas - I still got to hear Gouryella

Wow!! What a party?!?!

Got in around 11:15 thanks to Nat, Graham, Frank and Fuad and a few others. I would've freezed my a** off had I not bumped into them in line since I had a feeling coat check was going to get full pretty fast!

Walked in, and was greeted with a free Red Rev (tastes like candy, not too shabby IMO). The place was already packed and I kinda got the feeling that this was going to be a special night. The decor was really well done. But I would've liked to see the DJ booth on the stage as opposed to WAAAAYYY up there because from many angles, you could not see him (including the side room area where there was enough room to dance). But this would've probably reduced their capacity.

Sean Miller threw down a REAL good opening set and set it up quite nicely for the main attraction of the night.

As for Tiesto, he was just AWESOME!!! He didn't play anything that I was not expecting. It was very similar, I thought, to his In Concert set from October.

Does anyone know the 3rd or 4th last track (prior to encore)? It was a REALLY hard track. Killer! It just destroyed me.

Overall, I had a great night! Would I spend $51 to see him again? Maybe, maybe not. It all depends on the sets he's throwing down at the time.

Big props to Project Orange, TR, The Docks and the various other supporters for making this party happen. I hope to see more like this.

And last but not least - thank you to my friends, TA's and Non-TA's alike, for making this a great experience with a special shoutout to Tordan.

See you all soon.
Jason

I won't say much as it's already been said previously. Damn this party was fun though. Was very cool meeting a lot of you that I haven't met before, dancing queen, dnmr and others. Che was cool seeing you again man. XPANDER! Was the tune of the night for me. Except when the classics were dropped after, who would've thought he would've played Push - Universal Nation (remixed), Nalin and Kane -Open your eyes, and freaking Endless wave.

See you all on Fri.

Edit...wow, Tiesto actually reads this site? Nice. I didn't hear much of Sean Miller's set (got in after 12), but hearing him drop Xpander deserved respect for sure. I was in the coat check debacle at the time, however...then left to see Tiesto come on, then had to go back. bad move.

Tiesto has my thanks and I hope he comes back within a year or so. I just hope the Docks continue to book him instead of the Guv. It's obvious what venue he prefers.
