How was it, I heard a storm shut down the main outdoor stage at 11:30pm but since it had to be off by midnight it was no big deal. I want to see some pictures and videos from the closing fiesta though.
Had I known how insane this party was I would have stayed two more days.
Either way, my short review of each of my nights goes as follows
Sunday sept 20th - Steve Lawler @ Space
great night, I really enjoyed when Lawler put down a nice 12 minute building mashup of float away and spastic. I was supposed to go to eden for judge jules but ended up meeting some people who talked me in to going to this. I do not know how judge jules did but I am glad I saw Lawler at his finest
Monday sept 21st - Tiesto @ privledge (Tiesto closing party)
Not a fun night, tiesto got on and started playing the most non-trance, electronic mash-up set. The production level was amazing, 5 full colored lasers with a water screen, extremely high pressured cyro jets, streamers from the ceiling, and a massive LED screen. The production level was something you would expect from a massive in Europe for new years. Still none of this could make me appreciate the set he was playing. I left at 4:30am and decided it was better to go rest.
I will mention that I noticed tickets on the street getting sold for $15 euro. I should have figured out that the tickets were being whored out due to bad ticket sales. it seems people who visit Ibiza knew better. My friend went to Swedish house mafia at Pacha and said it was the time of his life. Wished I would have went there.
Tuesday sept 22nd - Carl Cox @ Space (Join our revolution closing party)
What an insane night!!!! I got there at midnight which is pretty early. Carl cox was on and playing in my mind a fantastic set from everything I had downloaded of him playing at space recently. Someone there told me, "oh no you wait it will get insane". I thought they were full of crap since the music already seemed above par. Well it turned out they were right by 4am it seemed like what I had heard at midnight was a warm up set. I heard some insane techno, production level in the club was awesome. Bright full colored laser, blanket dropped over the crowd during the peak moment of the set, pyro sparks from the sky, and good decoration. Sadly the set that was released on his show from this night was the slower part of the night.
Wednesday sept 23rd - Mauro Picotto @ Privlege (Meganite closing party)
This night would have been considered a great night by any standard in the US but since I had already been pretty spoiled by insane and unexpected sets from other DJs this night was simply standard for Ibiza. No production, just good music. Great techno DJ lineup, stayed till around 5:30am
Thursday sept 24th - PVD @ Amnesia (Cream closing party)
This was the main reason I came to Ibiza was to go to the cream closing party and see my favorite DJ behind the decks of his stomping grounds. I was really worried the night would disappoint since pvd has been unreliable as of lately. I was also worried there would not be many people who liked Paul anymore since people who were out in Ibiza seemed to have a high standard. None the less, it was the most packed I had ever seen a club the whole time I was there. Insane vibe, slightly above par pvd set and great sound. This was pretty much what I was expecting every night I was out in Ibiza, it had the right level of everything. Not overkill. Sasha was destroying the terrace and quite honestly I wished pvd had been playing in the terrace. I always like main rooms more but the terrace just had more room. Fantastic night all in all
Friday sept 25th - Sander @ Pacha
My flight out of Ibiza was at 9am Saturday morning so I knew I would need to go easy for this night. Showed up at 1:30am and I was greeted with a posted set of timeslots to include the 2 hour long fashion show that was currently going on and another misfortune of Sander going on at 4:30am. I decided to wait it out. Went to the pacha restaurant and ordered sushi and milked the clock till around 4:15am. It was cheaper to have a seat, sit down and eat than it would be to drink a mixed drink or water until 4:15 so this is what I opted to do. Apparently the crowd did not like waiting that long either because it had thinned out a little by 5am. My friend who was at Swedish house mafia a couple nights before said pacha did not have any of the awesome production they had the previous night. The sound was awesome though, extremely heavy in bass and highs but not distorting. I left at 6am and was content, just wished more people would have hung around for his set since DJs usually respond more favorably to a packed club |
Nice review. It's silly how some nights don't seem that good even though if you went to the party in the States on a random weekend it would be the most epic party ever. It's just that you are going out back to back nights and if you have one Uber Epic night (such as the Carl Cox night), the other nights don't seem as good, but they really are. Your senses get all messed up, it's so weird. I miss Ibiza, I want to go back to bad. Hope I can go next year!
