i am constantly reminded of him. i finally listened to my boyfriend's set from the November BBQ and when YAYA [Ronski Speed remix] came on.. all I could think and talk about was - that was the last thing DA and I ever spoke about. He came up to me to ask me what song was playing.

My poor boyfriend was so scared... he was like "uh oh are you going to cry" but I think at that time I just meant to talk about it with happiness. Raul loved the song hearing it for the first time.

Hi all, Hi Mel,

i just met DA on TranceEnergy a few years back.

It was amzing to met someone who travels for a party such long way - but we all do, dont we?

We had a drink together and talked about this and that.

I remember, he was soooo friendly.

I hope he found his peace now, i am sooooo sorry to hear that

We are still finding things out about his unexpected death and he really was such an important part of FLTA. He introduced me to sooo many out of town TA's. Always so welcoming.

He is truly missed.


Glad you got to hang with him at one of his highest moments of his life, Cosmique. I wish I was there to share in that memory with him. xx

So, Raul did try to leave a note on facebook where he messaged all his friends.. He just never got to publish it. The family saw it open when they turned on his computer. It accidentally got erased... so I received a summary of it. He wanted everyone to know.. even on TA.. so he said something along the lines of:


" By the time you read this i will be dead. My depression has gotten worse especially with the death of marcus on november 25th, 2005. My car died and i have been unemployed for two years, longest time ever. I applied to burger king and even they didnt take me. That really sent me over the edge. So, i decided to take myself out with a Ruger (some gun number i forgot) that i've had for a while now. I want to thank all my friends and family for being there for me. Please inform tranceaddict.com of my death. Thank you and goodbye.

Raul Montoya.


He also mentioned the many times he attempted suicide before.

I agree. I am just glad he didn't send it to us. I think reading the summary is much easier than reading it word for word by him.


I really can't imagine what the family went through turning his computer on.

It's been 3 weeks and now they have some closure. Going into his room must be incredibly hard. ;\

Wow Mel.....reading that was really hard My heart goes out to his family, you, and all of his really close friends.

As I mentioned in the thread on the Toronto section of TA, I have spoken with Raul for several years, but only had the one opportunity to meet him once at WMC 2007...I will always be grateful for that one night (unfortunately the only picture I have of he and I from that night is blurry, but I will cherish it none the less).

Even with time and distance separating us, he was someone that was always there when you needed him....whether it was to laugh or to cry, or to just be, he was always there....I am forever grateful for the conversations, the laughter, and the tears that we shared. Raul was a wonderful person with a heart as big as the ocean for all of his friends and family, and anyone who had the opportunity to cross paths with him, found a place for him in theirs.

Mel, I am sure you have a wonderful support group of close friends and family, but if you ever need to talk or vent, please feel free to get in touch with me.

RIP my dear friend....you will forever be remembered xo

I can only thank Raul for bringing me closer with my friends.

I hope he is able to see how many new friendships I have created from his passing. His family is just so welcoming. I've been speaking to his niece alot lately and I am sure what her family is going through is much worse than any of us.

His family is so incredibly nice. Just today his mother wanted to let me know how wonderful it was that so many people came to his service. She said it meant so much to her. I told her - he was such a wonderful person.. it shouldn't be a surprise that so many came and I am glad I was able to call him my friend <3

I have also become friends with his best friend. We find comfort in sending messages to each other about Raul. Every nice word about him has helped - tremendously.
