Here it is used as a way to cut the costs. Although there are a bunch of failboats that do use it as a way to get to Uni also.

No one is saying you get the same level here either, but here we use it as a way to cut costs with the bullshit lower division (read the cheap easy courses that don't matter where you learn them) stuff. The upper division stuff (the real coursework for your major) is not offered at the 2 year.

Plus the government subsidises some of our course and gives us and interest-free loan to pay for the rest of it, which we can spend the first few years of our working life slowly paying off.. To tell the truth I never paid attention to the cost of my degrees and don't even know what my HECS debt is at the mo :P

i didnt receive one for ~5 years after graduating. i still owe about 14 i think. each year i try and get enough deductions to get in underneath the threshold so i get all that money back, so im paying it off pretty slowly!

You can actually pay it all off in one big lump if you find yourself with the spare cash, something to consider rolling into a mortgage or part of a large personal loan rather than paying double the interest rates on things.
