changed up my upper body exercises today. used the wave machine for the first time in months and its a great little machine to do some warm up cardio.

question, is there anyone who used to abhor running and now like it? i want to add a jog in my routine to mix things up a bit but i hate running and avoid it like the plague BUT i know if i did it at least a little i'll slim down a bit which is the goal.

well that's because you have low body fat for one and any muscle you gain is going to be visible much faster than someone with a higher body fat.

a great way i used to work in running into my workout was to stop every 1/4 mile and do like 25 pushups and 25 situps. if you did 1 mile, that would be 100 of each total. not like a super hard workout or anything; but it definitely broke up the monotonous running.

now it totally depends on my mood - i've found that if i run in circles on a small track or on a treadmill, i feel like i can go farther than running on a long straightaway path or cross country crap.

i still don't like doing more than a 5k, really. 1-2 miles is the best for me.

In other news, just done my 3rd workout of the week. If you were looking to tone but not bulk-up a great deal, would you recommend doing a daily fat-burn jog of around 25 minutes or is that too much?

I usually run four to five miles two to three times a week. Today I did cardo (bike) for 35 min.

Upper body workout, Chest, Shoulder, Back, Some lower back and tons of crunches.

Tomorrrow i'll run four miles on the treadmill (winter is no good for outdoor activities). i'll probably do biceps (arms.) too

feel great

my issue is i talk myself out of it. i never really feel like i'm in a groove and sometimes i feel like i cause injuries with bad technique or something. i have no problems running if its part of a sport but when that's the main thing i mentally shutdown which gets me to all of 5min

how ironic a kenyan who not only can't run long distances but can't do short ones either. i fail.

yeah, what i do is that i slow down every five to six minutes, but i usually just try to keep my hearbeat going. that's the important thing, that your heartrate is pumped and your body is burning fat.

my legs and knees hurt, for days after a jogging session but it's normal as long as its bearable. eventhough some physicians say that pain is a sign that muscles haven't recovered from exercise. which means that you should put your body to rest for longer periods. something i seldom do.

Yeah I guess that has to be it. But you mean low in comparison to like a great big fatty, right? Cause I definitely have a good amount of fat for someone my size. Hence changing my diet.

yeah i guess i'll work on breaking it up by splitting a run up with either going slower or other exercises but the knee problems aren't something i like to hear. my legs are pretty strong as is right now so that might help lessen my chances of injury. i'll try tomorrow for 20min and see how that goes.

no from the random photos you have of yourself on ta you don't look like one of those "finny" people (people who look skinny but they are all flab and no muscle). so low in comparison to a number of people i would put myself in that category. i get the results with regards to muscle and strength but there is this damn fat covering my muscles. i'm 134 which isn't big but given my diet and exercise i really should weight something like 125.

Ahhhh yeah. Yeah I'm definitely not like that at all. What I meant to say is, I have about an inch or two of fat covering up all the good stuff. Needs to go bye bye!

I weigh 126 right now and I'm 5'3". Which makes my BMI 22.3....which is still totally within my healthy range. But I don't like fat hanging over the top my jeans.
