I keep running into people I know at our kid's school, which is super awesome. My husband saw an old buddy of mine picking up his daughter one day, and he said they have lots of kid friendly parties in the summer with the old gang. Nice to reconnect with old friends now that we all have kids!

Just wait till they start driving. We've spent enough on my younger step-daughter's 2008 Nissan Sentra getting that POS road worthy to have purchased two very nice used cars.

First swim lesson in the books! I'm super stoked about the news, wife took L to Water Babies and he kicked his feet and splashed with his arms and was having so much fun he didn't want to get out. Next week they are going underwater though, so send your thoughts and prayers to my wife pls.
Swim class is the highlight of our winters! In kinderswim now so she gets to do the slide and practice jumping in from the edge. So fun!

Yea we started a weekly class at I think at 5 or 6 months and have been pretty regularly hitting them. Total pro at getting dunked, but hates floating on her back! It's a blast seeing them in the water, and knowing they know what to do if they fall in.

Yup same, since 6 months! Only thing she hates is wearing the life jacket, but to be fair they are so huge and uncomfortable looking.

Had her first bad dream last night. Well I assume so, because I dunno what else would make her fully wake up at 330am. She was calling out for mama, but not very loud. I turned on the video monitor and she was standing up, leaning onto the crib railing. Took her a good 1.5-2 hours to fall back asleep after I went in to comfort her, as I would expect after fully waking up after a solid 8 hours of sleep already. Pretty cranky this morning, lol.

oohh, that sounds awful. That's always a terrible feeling looking at the monitor and seeing a baby standing.
We have 5 weeks until #2! things are getting big.

posted this in the Friday thread but wanted to share here. So I may take my daughter to the movies this weekend while mommy is out of town. I hate doing stuff cuz I'm a lazy fuck but it's the kid so you gotta do it.
A coworker gave me some good advise. She said 'you should always have date days/nights with your daughter". I was like "huh? you crazy". But she told me that her husband would always take their daughter out on little dates. For instance, they'd get dressed up and go out and have nice lunch/dinner/movie/etc. Just the two of them. Why? Because Dad was trying to show his (only) daughter (they had 3 other boys) what a real date should be. More importantly, how a man should treat a lady. She'd say, "Billy (with an attitude, hand on hip and pointing finger at me), you live in Los Angeles and you know these little boys are little fucking assholes. You need to show that little girl how a proper gentleman should treat her. Set those expectations up high".
It's a good point! So I share that advise with not just those other Daddies with daughters but maybe even with Mommies with sons. Show those kids how to respect one anoanother
