We can argue for 40 days and 40 nights(which seems to be how long this thread will be going..) and none of us will change our minds.

To put it simply, I enjoyed my night a GREAT deal. I felt it was one of the best nights I've been out to, if not the best. It was my first time to see PVD but i've listened to plenty of his sets. You cannot expect the man to play a completely different tracklist every month especially when he is on tour promoting his album. Of course he's gunna drop NBY, its the first god damn single of the album. Of course he's gunna drop time of our lives. Of course he's gunna drop connected(did he even? I don't remember lol). You can't expect him to not play bangin' tracks that he knows the large majority of people like.

It is unfortunate that some people have to be elitist's and say that he sux he's playing the same tracks for a while. and you know what? You're right some records in his box are past their used by date, but the thing that matters is that nearly every body in roxy had one of the best times of their lives. That place was still packed at 8 am, which is more than I can say for almost any other DJ that plays around here. He kept the place relatively packed all through early hours of the morning.

Bottom line -- I enjoyed myself, and so did almost everyone else it seemed that night. That's all you can really ask for.

i was looking forward to connected the whole night... but alas he didn't play it. at least, in my non-drug-induced cloud 9 state i don't recall that he did. can't believe it was almost two weeks ago that pvd rox0red our box0rs.

i neeeeeed another pvd or nu nrg live set...they are sooo goood!

its not elitist to complain that paul plays the same tunes week in week out and that we're dissapointed by this. Speaking from experience, iv seen PVD many many times in my clubbing career. He used to do monthly six hour sets at gatecrasher and they were completely different every month, each absolutely amazing in a different way. this year especially, he just seems to cane the same tunes every week, with no regard. Meanwhile, his favourite up and coming star, my friend mr Sheridan plays a different set every week, wether it be a two hour set or a 4 hour set. why cant Paul mix it up more. For gods sake there is six whole hours to play with here. if he had the inclination to change his sets he damn well could. but he doesnt. and thats the problem. it seems a hell of a lot of the worlds finest trance dj's are doing this. now i dont see sasha, or james zabeila doing this. PVD uses final scratch so this argument of not being abled to get new tunes is invalid.

my problem was the progression of tracks, and the choice of tempo for the entire show, not the tracks or the mixing. the tracks could have been more mainstream or less it doesnt matter as long as it keeps me moving.. i felt like the flow wasnt there.

i agree with you here completely.. its not like we can see him whenever, he comes to ny maybe 3-4 times a year.. why cant we get a vandit night type experience.

yes, since late summer, we all noticed that the tracks were ever so stagnant and everyone started getting sick of "reflections promo" whatever... .

but some one just fucking go through the almost complete tracklist and count off the songs that are not the usual suspects. its bullshit to say it didnt change because two weeks before this gig, the tracklists REALLY didnt change..... there were some new tracks in this set and there will be many more soon.

and mikeymike, tell those quoted buddies of yours to stay in england and shut the fuck up because their biases and patronizing attitudes are unmistakable....its one thing to be a snob and its another to be an unjustified COCK! this kind of snobbery is quite pathetic! really, they make no point whatsoever. why dont you ask them to explain to me why cream and gatecrasher will never have bimonthly 6 hour sets from paul van dyk again and new york has and WILL have this privilege, if the crowd doesnt know shit? i am not a fan of the roxy, never have been....but the sound system is definitely not ass.

So to play a 6hr set would be a great way to gauge interest. Look at the trend, AVB,Tiesto, Timo, Jules, etc ... i know a lot of these guys andf this is EXACTLY the reason they are there. PVD, well, money ... have you ever heard of it? talks really loud, and theres a lot of it in the US.

get a clue you fucking idiot. paul van dyk has expressed many times what his twilo residency meant to him and how this has built a connection between him and the new york crowd. hence it is not a case of BEEN THERE, DONE THAT.... it is something that continues,because he loves it, and has a following that loves it more. making 35,000 dollars for these sets is really not much more than he would make effortlessly with a short set close to home.... if it were financially motivated, he wouldnt need to come to new york and spin all night long in the middle of hectic tours when all the other clubs get are 2-3 hours!
