How about letting a single individu from every forum opening a thread in their local forum leading to this one ? (Or even better mention this one in the mod forum so they can open a thread in their local forum leading to this one)

It's absurt that a forum as big as this one can't get enough votes

Yes there are.

So there are a bunch of tracks that miss by one point, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

What about the fact that 40 or so tracks share a ten point difference? That means about ten tracks have the same amount of points. That isn't accurate enough.

Imagine having more then ten at number one? I don't think that was the initial purpose of this thread. Hope this problem gets solved so we can see some results.

If there are ten tracks tied for number one, then the next ranking should be #11, not #2. That's the proper way to do it.

SYSTEM-J, I appreciate your efforts to make this as accurate as possible, but look at the bottom few entries of the Top 100 DJs at http://www.thedjlist.com They are only seperated by 3-5 votes, and that is on a site where 10s of thousands of people have voted. I think you were being a little too ambitious if you ever expected the votes for this poll to be that widely spread out.

The easiest solution i can think of is letting this thread continue for some time ... i'm sure alot more ppl will vote (at least i had a number one no one else voted for, so i did my best )

Smiley DJ technicality

Hi,

just a suggestion (i have some backround in math/stats and working with empirical data).

To create a top 100 list from users' top 10 lists, the first song on each list must get 100 points, not 10.

Here's how it would work:
1 - 100
2 - 99
3 - 98
4 - 97
5 - 96
6 - 95
7 - 94
8 - 93
9 - 92
10- 91

Why?
suppose 100 people vote.
For some reason, 11 of those people rank Scooter's "Jigga Jigga" as their top song... but no-one else votes for it. The song would still get 110 points (under the current system).

Let's suppose 90 people list Faithless' "God is a DJ" at their #10 all time favourite song.
Under the current system it would only get 90 points... a few notches below Scooter. Even though it's clearly a more "favoured" song.

under the 100 point system,
scooter would get 11 x 100 = 1100 points.
Faithless would get 90 x 91 = 8190 points.

Awarding 10 points to the first, and 1 point to the last song is ideal for creating some sort of ultimate top 10 list... but it would create a very misleading top 100 list.
As is, the first song doesn't just get 9 more points than the #10 song... it gets 10 TIMES MORE POINTS!

Once the list is compiled, 20 songs or so would get a HUGE amount of points... but the rest wouldn't get anything... so ranking them would be very difficult.

just an idea...

I like the idea behind that system... I'm not sure the difference between 1 and 10 should be that small though, perhaps something more like:

1 - 100pts
2 - 95pts
3 - 90pts
4 - 85pts
5 - 80pts
6 - 75pts
7 - 70pts
8 - 65pts
9 - 60pts
10 - 55pts

...or you could rank them all up using a variety of different systems and then work out averages, if you wanna be really fair
