Hey!

I got into Kool Haus @ 4:00 AM and it was still rammed. I ended up leaving at 5:45 am. I would have enjoyed myself better if I wasn't so tired, or if I had some alcohol, but of course they weren't selling any @ 4:00!! At that time of night I was so frusterated with everybody, the people, the sweaty guys w/ no shirts bumping into me and getting sweat all on my arm (what else is new)... I really wasn't in the mood for it. I also wasn't expecting to see so many people drugged up (geeee). EVERYWHERE I looked, and everyone I looked at had eyes the size of saucers. I guess since I don't do that anymore, I was feeling kinda sad that I wasn't having as good of a time like they were. Armin's set wasn't getting me too hyped up, I didn't even have enough energy to dance When I left though they had some wicked music coming from that tent! I wish I stayed in there all night. I also saw some chinese kid OD, and was rushed into a back door of Guv, later to be taken out on a stretcher by paramedics and I have NEVER in all my years of raving and partying, have seen someone's face the ways his looked. It was totally fucked up. Scared the crap out of me! Also, all the little girlies in their mini skirts and high heels was enough to make me want to leave. I don't know why it bothers me so much but the scene has changed so much and I hate that. AND I didn't get to see 1/2 the TA's I wanted to see which sucked bigtime! I wish I could have caught blank and jones, and shultz.

I'll just post the review I posted on Tribe...

I had a blast at this event!

got into the club around 11:45... just enough time to grab a couple beers and catch the end of demi's opening set... diggers came on and dropped a solid 3 hour set as was expected... recognized at least 5 tracks off his recent essential mix from the global gathering festival...

Bedrock - Santiago
El Presidente - Without You (Infusion Remix) awesome tune!
DJ Phunky - Funny Phunky (Phunky Mix)
Gattastyle - Dirtbox (which i didn't think i liked, but realized it sounds much better in the club
Pryda - Aftermath (track in the video posted below... MASSIVE!)

overall i thought he played a solid set... he always seems to have a track selection that stands out from other DJ's... after catching all of digweed's set and feeling completely satisfied, we headed upstairs to the skybar to get some fresh air... addy was on at the time and was laying down some sweet progressive house... stayed up there for a bit then went to kool haus to check out armin... although i'm not really into trance anymore and don't really particularly enjoy a lot of the "trancier" elements in his tracks, i find a lot of his tracks have a nice progressive edge to them and he's definately great at hitting you hard with the next track

for the rest of the night we just kinda wandered around the complex checking out syndey blu in the outdoor tent, demi up on the skybar, deep dish in guv and armin in kool haus... finally left around 8 when things seemed to be wrapping up... a lot of the rooms had been evacuated... all in all a great party for me personally, loads of good music played and a fun way to end the summer...

here are some pics and vids from the night...

thank you for using some of my pics in your review...

Markus Schulz:

A Solid 7/10.

Played way different than what I thought he would. Not saying that's a bad thing at all, but I felt he really lost the crowd with a few of the more drawn-out mixes. That being said, I think he did a superb job in some spots.

Grayarea:

A Solid 7/10.

Maybe it's because you're TRANCEaddicts, maybe it's because you're not all producers or performers, but I was in the ETN chat and people were quite frankly slagging off on a well done Live PA. They're entirely different from what a lot of people are used to, and while I'm not going to defend them I think one has to keep an open mind to the absolute beauty that is Progressive Breaks. For Chrissakes, he was pleading w/ the Crowd 'No more Breaks after this'. Jesus.. They (the crowd) seemed to be enjoying it quite a bit though.

Blank and Jones:

A Respectable 8/10.

I used to HATE Blank and Jones. If it wasn't a mediocre performance, it was them blantantly ripping off other reputable artists in their productions. I had no love for Jaspa or Piet. However, seeing them in action tonight actually impressed me; clever track selection, great timing, solid (albeit lightning quick) beatmatching and a great feel to the set really left me wishing they'd stay on another hour. Christ knows Lowell'd loved that. Throw in some tasty singalongs and a stomper of a classic to top it off and you have a very happy camper.

Armin van Buuren:

An Outstanding 9/10.

Whoo, yeah. Armin got the big points here. Not for any reason other than personal preference. He started off as he typically does, but rather than play the same shit he does on ASOT, he reads the crowd and goes hard. As our good man Dennis Hahn would say 'Jesus Christ, Armin must have been Angry. He went HARD.' That statement summed up his performance at Decadence II and would fit well here. With tracks like 'Damager 02', 'Cherry Blossom' and 'Play it Louder' (FUCK YEAHHH), This man came to leave you all with your ears ringing and your asses sore. Even Anthems like Greece 2000 were played in the Mark Norman form, thus kicking serious ass even further. Epic Trancers should have been pacified with Inertia, Menno de Jong's latest and even an unreleased Robert Nickson track. It would have been the vocal one after 'Children of the Sun'.

I can safely say that the party going on in Kool Haus was one hell of a shindig, and I now wish I had come despite my incredibly poor health. Two days recovery in a hospital would have been WELL worth it.

great review, agree 100% although I found Armins set a little too hard, maybe it was me and running out of gas to fully appreciate his set.

We started off with some nice pre-drinks at my buddies house which was up the road from the Guv, we arrived at 11pm, massive line-up, lucky we all had tickets, and managed to get by the line no problems, thanks to some hook-ups at the door. Went into the Kool Haus room, Markus Shultz was warming up the crowd. Wasn’t really feeling the trance he was laying down, so we jetted to the Government side of the place to hear some John Digweed, amazing, the man rocked it, crowd went nuts. We then left at 2 to check out Blank and Jones back in the Kool Haus, simply amazing, they haven't been in Toronto, and the place went off. Agree, best track of the night had to be the The Killers - Mr. Brightside though. Armin jumped on the decks at around 4. at this time I was running out of gas, still a pretty good set from Armin. Not the uplifting progressive trance I was hoping for, or remember from his amazing set back on Valentines day, but still solid. Still he dropped "Shivers", "Purple Haze- Adreneline".

We jetted at 6, and the party was still going strong. Apparently went well into the morning.

Shout out to the usual partners in crime, and Kev, Michelle, sneaky pete. Great to run into a few other tribers there as well. Although seemed to loose sight of most during the night.

Pictures to follow this week.

To all that are bitching and complaining. The line-up was sick, you have to expect that kinda crowd. I will say the crowd in the KH was DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT and more friendlier than the Guv, but that was just me.

Lots of expensive gas bills as you roadtrip to Toronto for every major event, that's how

Mediocre to average (at best) night out for me. I actually didn’t mind the size of the crowd (I thought it would have been much worse) it was the heat that really got to me (ewwwwwww). At least the cryogenics helped out with that a bit, plus that stuff is super fun when your ROCKED hehe.

Musically I wasn’t really feeling anyone that night in the main room. Both Digweed and Deep Dish (mostly Ali) played some pretty cool tracks that set me off but for the most part their sets were a little too dark and plodding for me. Wish I could have checked out Demi on Skybar but being drenched with as much sweat as I was from being in the main room (again another ewwww) made it too cold for me to stay up there at that point in the morning … wandered thru the Kool Haus once and I couldn’t handle the music in there! Dont know who was playing, maybe Armin or Blank and Jones but the music really irritated me so I needed to get out of there ASAP!

So yea out of all of the summers end parties ive attended, I think I had the least fun at this one ...

mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh …

I'm mostly in agreeance.

Was way too hot and sweaty for me to really enjoy myself, not to mention how packed it was in Kool Haus pretty much from mid way through Schultz onwards.

The rest of the venue was almost just as bad. Such a struggle trying to get anywhere.

Least the music wasn't all bad. I wanted to check out Diggers, but it was worse than Kool Haus for both space and temperature, so ended up skipping it. Kool Haus was good, but the heat would just get to me in the end, and I'd end up doing a lap around the place to hopefully find somewhere where I could cool off but still listen to something I wanted to. In the end, the breaks room was probably the most comfortable place for me.

Armin was pretty good. A bit more banging than I would've thought he'd play, but oh well. I took to chilling in the corridor/entrance thing to cool off though. Was still way too hot in there.

I still reckon it was a pretty good night, but selling a few less tickets so people could be a little more comfortable would be nice.
