hmmm, so this thread has come full circle, and basically we've now established that more gun ownership means more murders.

So now where's the argument against gun control...and it looks like it;s going to happen for real, especially as there's a way to get just about any other gun than a handgun, banned.

I'm interested to see what kind of gun was used. Couldn't have been an assault rifle if a bulletproof vest stopped it.

The problem with everyone having guns is that everyone has guns... Situations can get really intense really fast.

Even if everyone is mentally stable, safe firearm usage in a emergency situation is something most people are not trained to deal with. Plinking at the range does not equate to having to draw your weapon, find cover, engage a target, all while avoiding friendly fire, identifying who isn't the "shooter" if other people are firing their weapon, and maintaining your cool while possibly being fired upon.

That is something that takes training, and not just training once, not just a day, but weeks and months every year of intensive courses that develop the mindset, muscle memory, and intuition that allow you to function in an extremely high stress situation. These are skills that you regularly have to put to practice as well.

I know most of you give me shit about my military simulation stuff, but thinking about this, and talking with some people I think I might make a scenario for this simulator that takes real people players (not AI) and puts them in a situation where there is a random shooter, and everyone else (or most everyone else) around them has guns. You could probably replicate how it would be in real life pretty easily.

Also provide parameters for increasing/decreasing the number of guns per person, number of shooters, etc.

You could start it off easy, making it a single shooter, obviously dressed in BDU, in a simple environment and then start complicating matters.

In other words, are all murderers mentally Ill (academically)?

tactical police units wear different vests than normal police. They use ceramic based composites and can usually stop a rifle round .

Well the only difference between a sociopath and a psychopath is sometimes merely whether someone does mean things that are illegal or not. There's occasionally people who join the military because they "want to kill people" for instance.
