yeah, true, might as well bring your laptop with you, select the tracks you want to play, and let the software do everything for you

Listen everybody, people go to see these Dj's becuase they play amazing MUSIC,,, and are able to mix them well,,,,, who gives a fuck about what they are using, nobody cares.... people are there to party, have a good time and dance. They dont go there to make sure that they play from vinyl or cd... For me, if armin , tiesto and Pvd were to convert fully to Cd, i would still see them as long as they kept true to their musical structure. Im sure nobody else cares about this except the very few who are there to listen to Vinyl.

Guess what.... many DJ's use cd's guys...are you going to plug your ears once you find they are using a track from a cd, stop and then proceed dancing once you see a vinyl in their hands?
I dont think so!

well then we seem to be going for different reasons, since i primarily go to see djs showcase their skills on decks, and if anyone went to system last weekend to check out david morales, then you'd know exactly what i'm talking about...

if the whole industry were to migrate to cds, and if that were to become the standard, i would have no problem with that, BUT as it stands now, producers make music, release them on vinyl, and earn money through sales of those records, need i say more?

They're almost the same price as Pioneer ones, again depending where you buy them (Canada or US).

And TranceGeek, chill man, just because you're a hardcore vinyl addict doesn't mean that the CDs aren't the way to go... sure, I respect the DJ that can play vinyls, but the effects they can achieve with these CD players nowadays are just way beyond anything that a pair of turntables and a mixer could pull off (of course, buying a $2500 mixer might change that a bit, but hey, not everyone has that much money).

Plus, it doesn't matter what you use to play your music (as far as I am concerned you can use your MD player hooked up to the mixer) as long as you're not boring and know how to create a certain effect in the crowd, get them moving. Plus, beatmatching on Pioneer CD decks is almost the same as it is on vinyl, and one advantage is that you don't need to carry all that vinyl load with you. Then again, one disadvantage to CDs is (as my bro TranceGeek pointed out in that other thread) is the sound that comes out, but hey, again nothing a solid $2000 mixer can't fix.

Ok, I've already passed my day's quota on posting here, so let me get the hell outta here... for now.

im not even going to touch this one

bottom line is that if someone put a cd into a NORMAL cd deck and played a trance song, i would party to it, even if it wasnt a continues mix

are you there to party, or there to evaluate the dj?

Well, some of us that are into DJing/Producing are there to "evaluate" the DJ as you put it, to see what he has to offer and show...

Then again, the others that are into partying (which is 99.9% of us) don't give a fuck how the DJ plays his music, as long as something is coming out of the speakers.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the third kind, the ones that are there not to evaluate the DJ or to party, but to simply get mashed and wasted! Nothing wrong with that either, just thought I'd mention it...
