My opinion on what some would call cheese and I choose to call accessable is that it shows people that there is more underneath and hopefully gets them into it more. My electronic dance music love spawned from Sash - Encore Une Fois, but now Sasha, PvD, Ferry etc. is more my style. If I hadn't heard the accessible stuff I wouldn't have my love for awesome stuff. I don't think it is easy for "the masses" to appreciate "good fucking trance" when the majority of them may have heard one MoS CD or be into RnB, top 40 cheese, etc. |
There is a big bold black line between accessible and cheese IMO. Cheese serves to do nothing but make money, and is mostly a mockery of the music (look @ flip & fill, prime example), accessible music OTOH is an easily digestable (usually vocal) tune. Ferry Corsten - Punk is accessible, ANdain - Beautiful Things is accessible, Ian van dahl - castles in the sky is utter shite , dj sammy - heaven is little more than a condom recycling bin...
