I don't think it is easy for "the masses" to appreciate "good fucking trance" when the majority of them may have heard one MoS CD or be into RnB, top 40 cheese, etc.

There is a big bold black line between accessible and cheese IMO. Cheese serves to do nothing but make money, and is mostly a mockery of the music (look @ flip & fill, prime example), accessible music OTOH is an easily digestable (usually vocal) tune. Ferry Corsten - Punk is accessible, ANdain - Beautiful Things is accessible, Ian van dahl - castles in the sky is utter shite , dj sammy - heaven is little more than a condom recycling bin...

I'd say burn cdr's of some .mp3 sets (I'd recommend Oakey EM's from '99) to give to the audience (if itz relatively small) as well

you gotta play a clip of the
DJ Tiesto trance energy 2000 set

i would recommend skipping ahead to around the 40:00 mark where
Vengaboys - Kiss (airscape remix) starts off...

now they would get a taste of what trance really is about
here's a sample
(might work, might not work)

^^^^ yah thats my favorite part of his set

and to 69kAlikAdikA69, its not like this will be any more 'boring' than other peoples speeches. i mean seriously... right now we have informative... people are just doing trips, stuff like wakeboarding and horse back riding... its all basically boring stuff.. this wont be any different, if not better. they will get to listen to something that will keep them awake, not look at videos of some girl riding a horse. blah to that

Xpander is always good. Any MIKE songs too.
I was gonna do something like that for my German class where I played the PvD DVD to the class and talk about the Loveparade and stuff and show some pics of it too. For an Angel happens to be the song set to the Loveparade footage. So it would work out nice. Now I have to do it.

Make sure you tell them the best trance music comes from the mother of all trance nations...that tiny country in Europe... Holland J/K mate

As for the tunes you're gonna show them.. some classics would be nice like Rank 1 - Airwave.. maybe some of the tunes you really liked when yóu became interested in trance.. if it worked for u, it could work for them too

Showing them a part of a live set would be a great idea indeed! Make sure it contains a lot of special (light) effects, like a sensation set or the Trance Energy set Me² offered you.. so they can almost 'feel' the atmosphere at partys like that..

Good luck with ur speech

Greetingz,

You should play them a mix to show what a good dj can do. Just don't play DJ Jean - PPK Mix
