Space Age is TECHNO....that's not trance so don't use that as a reference.

But I agree about the early Forbidden Paradise Cd's (he mixed 3-7), the Magiks (especially 4,5 and 6 but the rest are great too) and In Search of Sunrise 1-3 (the first one being the best in my opinion). If you've never heard Live at Innercity 99 or Live at Energy 2000, you MUST have these livesets...SIMPLY AMAZING!! Live at Innercity was released as an album, but Energy wasn't. Both, however, are easily available for download.

Anyway, Tiesto is changing, but we MUST remember that he changed TO trance back in 97-98. Before that, he was a house dj at the beginning, then techno. Hell, Tiesto even produced some happy hardcore tracks in the mid 90s!! Tiesto is all about change.....whether good or bad.

As I said before, this one is ideal to relax
and to use as inspiration to fall asleep, in a
positive way. Never fails....

I agree about the Sarah track a bit cliché, however
he doesn't dwell on it, for too long.

The Sarah track.....as in Silence remix? Man, that mix goes on longer than in Magik 6 where it was 7 minutes. In Summerbreeze, it goes on and on for over 8 minutes!! Not that I dislike the track, but it was very overplayed (even on Canadian radio two years ago!). It's great, but I could name 50 tunes better than it.

I recommended Space Age so she could listen by herself to Tiesto's evolution. Anything that he has done counts, regardless if it's trance or not. If he had recorded a hardcore CD I would've recommended that too

And Magik 1,2,3 are not any less good that the others; they're just more raw and primitive. I actually like those better now because I never played them out as much as the others and they're all little gems.

This was the first Tiesto cd i ever heard, and OH what a beauty!

The songs on this CD ars so deep, and have so many layers to them, I kept having a new favorite song every few weeks when listening to this. First it was silence, because Tietso had owned me with that song when i saw him live for the first time the week before. That night really changed my life. THen it was aria dido (armin's mix), then Caught me Running, then Far From over...you get the idea. Anyways, if you're new to trance this is a great start Paula.

Classic Tietso = pure ownage

I think magik 6 is a bit better than this though, because you can "feel" the energy of the crowd on that compilation. Nyana is an ok CD, but i'm just not feeling it compared to some of his older stuff... Perhaps it's because I DL his livesets like crazy, so most of the songs are played out to me.....the "magik" just isn't there in as big a way....

Yo David...what's up Tiesto forum buddy? Yeah....I'm not quite feeling the MAGIK with Nyana as compared to the earlier stuff. Even CD2 is lacking just a bit. Nyana is still good as a mix compilation, but I think Tiesto can do better.....but maybe he doesn't want to do better because being better to us would mean going back to harder, faster, more uplifting trance? I don't know....but sometimes I just want my old Tiesto back. hehe.

Nyana disk 1 <--- Hate it. With few exceptions. The actual song Nyana is preaty good.
Nyana Disk 2 is great! Except for the track number 9. Can't stand it. So far, my favourte track is 03-Andain - Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dreseden Remix). Great vocals and even has a guitar in it(goes back to my rock roots).

Well....I paid 26 Canadian dollars with tax, which is actually quite good for a double CD!

It's listed as $18.99 US on Cdnow.com, so it shouldn't be much more expensive than that at your local music store.

Thanks Smitty. I'm going to search out a job before the summer rush starts and all the good ones are taken...

I need some new music. My kazaa sucks , someone was going to burn me a lot of music (if u see this , THANK YOU) but his computer was just reformatted so I have no idea if I'll get that....I might have to shove out the cash..*it pains me to do so*
