u do not know. I couldn't really program analog synths. This board and kvr have helped me out so much. The sad thing I had a nord lead as one of my first synths and I sold it(I played piano before I discover techono muzik. filters, flanger, and compression have been the greatest tools that I have picked up from this board and my songs have improved so much from this.

I find that fter making new tracks, the old ones are overshadowed and need to be retouched to live up to my new tracks' reputation!!!
I hate getting better!!

It's pretty sickenin sometimes. I've been producin for EXACTLY a year now, and I STILL FEEL LIKE I have just started. I got new Patches like Absynth, Pro53, FM7, and Z3ta+, and I'm having a BLAAAAAAAST making patches!

Made 9 Custom Patches that sound so wicked for the past week, and that's cuz of my experience with the 3x osc! LOL! That little tiny program has taught me so much on how to mess with professional equipment! Especially the real hardware like the 'Supernova'!

But, I'm gettin discouraged lately; I've been having writers block, cuz I'm trying to make 'PHAT' sounds, and now mess with 'presets' off these great programs, so it's gonna take me time to re-work some trax; especially this remix I'm doin for Extalin's "Divergence", which I have custom made all of my patches.

Not only is making patches an issue, but 'Compressing', and 'Eqing' like I said earlier is. Well, that will be dealt with soon, and hopefully, I'll be pro at this within the year; but I've been hard at producin almost every single day for a year, so I hope my stuff sounds pro. Most of you TA's sound pro, but lack a record label; but I understand some do it for hobby, so I respect all of you! Later guys. -Mental

You are SO DAMNED RIGHT SgtFoo! Don't our ears get better over time?

Most of us think we are better than we really are; but when we hear our old trax, we prolly laugh.

"Why did I put that clunky bass? That piano is so loud, and uncompressed, with TOO MANY High's. Those open hats are too loud, and the percussions are being drowned by my sub basses" ------- THINGS LIKE THIS are an example of progression; when you realize what the problem is with your music, without the aid of others.

When you get better, your music changes, and prolly caters more to your style, than the artists that influence you. But, there's always one thing to remember: There ALWAYS room for 'Improvement'. Later. -Mental

yeah.. i feel i'm getting better with each track i produce..

the track i'm making doesn't really have to be better then my last track, but there can be some small thing in the track that make's me better.. like making a new sound to the synth or making a percussion i really like or something.

i have been producing for like a year now.. but only seriously for some month's.. still have a looong way to go

For me it seems that technical improvement comes in quantum leaps.. that is to say, i'll be making tracks at one level, and then BAM, next track flies out with much better sound quality or better writing. Overall its still a slow process though.

Mental - haha as a matter of fact I've been retouching a couple older tracks lately, going "what the hell was i thinking? this clips all the way through!"

i feel i do too

i also find my niche more and more with every track...find my sound

i also find out how flexible i am too

but the most important thing is that i learn so much from each new track it is amazing and that is waht keeps me going on and on

dont know why but i love it

just recently i created a really chilled/soundtrack-esque song that has really made me said to myself wow...i made that...especially when i compare it too my first song

and no i dont have a big head..i just sometimes blow myself away especially creating something so nice with just a simple computer

I may hope so :P

No but I'm positive, if I listen to productions I did earlier, there's not that many I am really satisfied with. I feel every new production is getting better at the moment. Not just in sound quality, but more in subtile use of sounds and dancefloor effectiveness.

Definitely. I learned the basics of music structure with Dance eJay 2 three years ago. Then came fruityloops. Began to learn basics of making synths etc, adding FX. Gradually progressed to Reason, my synth programming skills got better, and I now, 3 years later, I'm beginning to understand how to use EQ's and compression! Where am I now? see my sig! keep trying Eugene, you'll gradually get better and better, trust!
