Paul van Dyk - Seven Ways....some of the best classic trance. Came out in '97, might not seem old but in the trance world many would consider it just that.

Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine (early 90?) ok so this isn't near to being trance, but more like industral/dance; at the time I thought Down In It would be great for the dancefloors

Also picked up around 92 or so a house comp that had the lyrics along the lines of ... "when I walk into this place, it's time to pump the bass, it's more than just a dance, it's time to pump this place... from my head to my toes... let's lose control" or something along those lines. If anyone recalls who this is and the track, please let me know! I think it either Farley Jackmaster Funk or Jackin' Trax or something. Thanks!


Early trance for me was Oliver Lieb aka Spicelab, Art of Trance, Logic Trance 2 comp (LSG - Fragile oldie but goodie), couple other trance compilations I can't remember too much but had the Belgium hard trance sound (Oliver Adams, Praga Khan, 101, etc.)

not trance but gabber. do they still call it gabber? or has gabber become hardcore cuz no one talks about gabber anymore. but that tape was the bomb!!!!!! after that a jungle tape by e-sassin and then slam evil by paulina taylor (happy hardcore) and then my friends got me into trance. but in retrospect i think alpha team - speed racer was the first techno tape i bought back in 1991. peace!!!
