the first hackers film was pretty limp indeed. Any fuckin retarded sys admin who had 'god' as their passworsd should be shot & hung by the balls. I cant really remember the story, but i do remember they were gettin all excited about seein a laptop with a 14.4kbps modem - my how technologies changed! Although i've still only got a 56k and the other option available's ISDN, which is still shite.

But thankin God cable / dsl will be available in my area in august

Hmmmm... I haven't seen the movie so I might be wrong, but it doesn't make sense to nmap 10.2.2.2 cause that's a private address...

Anyway I was thinking the same thing, they have all these advanced vehicles and hovercraft shit and they still use nmap? lol...
A real hacking would be to see her sitting for three days straight with a brute-forcer, with piles of pizza and coffee cups all around, but hey - that wouldn't sell would it?

I thought that scene in the x-files where that guy snatches the MJ files from the pentagon was pretty nice. Also I loved hackers2, but more because of Mitnick's psychological methods than the technical bullshit. Some of it was pure crap.
