okies.. time for a better review now that i finished eating my Doritos and got some sleep 7 hours later..
Prologue
nite started off with me and my co-worker Sean (short brown dude with the glasses) heading down to Yonge and Dundas Square for their grand openning thing. (We had to leave Endlesswave, my other co-worker who didn't get off till 11:30pm, sorry Chris you missed the best moments of the party.. )
got downtown and then called up TimeWarp , then metup with Ryanm and Dr.Goodvibes at the square to catch a bit of Snow and Treble Charger. to my disappointment i missed Snow's informer by 20 mins - the highlight of the nite !
so anyhow, after a brief dinner at the ghetto McDick's on Queen and Spadina we were on our way inside..
The Moozak
ryanmarcus aka. DJ Vagrant:
Didn't get a chance to catch a lot of his set since we didn't get inside until close to midnite. But the choons he was dropping were pretty banging. It seemed like there was a lotta confusion about what was going on since ppl were juss coming inside and everyone was greeting each other, so props to ryanmarcus for putting on a great show despite having to open the night up!
TranceGeek aka. DJ Mute:
I guess TranceGeek isn't a "prog" enuff name lol .. nevertheless Mute threw down one of the best sets of the night imho. Smooth mixing and some great track selection. He played from 12-1am and that was just about when the VIP room peaked at its full capacity. I was in total disbelief at the number of people inside since I've never seen the VIP room so rammed before in my life! The crowd was surely going nuts and the TA's were practically everywhere. The pinnacle of his set was when he threw down the "Nobody Listens to Techno Remix" and the place just exploded.. nice job heh.
DJ_LocoMoco aka. DJ Mobius:
Last time I heard Carlos spin was at Alto Basso for the TOTA/Tribe party when he openned for Orkidea. He did a great job warming up the place for him and I was very impressed with his mixing so I really looked forward to catching him last nite. Carlos dropped some sweet uplifting trance that totally got the place moving. it was weird cuz everyone was moving around after Mute's set and i think some people couldn't stand being stuck in the crammed VIP room for the whole nite but towards the middle of his set the place started filling up pretty packed again. Carlos' mixing was spot on and his set flowed smooth and flawlessly. MAny of his tracks got the whole VIP area bouncing as well as the crowded TA area upfront! totally enjoyable and memorable set.. TOTA has some major talent here~! and definately my favourite set of the nite
DJ Stlyez
Sonny has been an inactive member of TOTA for a while since times when he was much more visible. Some of you might not know but he's actually a pretty oldschool TA. Unfortunately his time lately has been diverted for looking after Sara aka. Waxen (another oldschool TA) as they prepare for their newborn child. Anyhow, in regards to his set, it was also very rythmic and don't worry Sonny, no one noticed those 4 mistakes .. oops! did i just say that heh.. heh, but honestly after some initial butterfingers and nervousness ... Stylez was on his way.. highlight of the set was that Oceanlab? track .. wow, crowd went nuts as usual ..
oks.. gonna get some food .. review to continue later..
brb ..
