My senior year in college 2 of my best friends convinced me to go to a rave in Atlanta. I had no idea what I was in for. The rest is history. I've been addicted ever since and that was 4 years ago. Trance was the sound I had been searching for my whole life and thanks for my friends, I had finally found it.

When i first started buying/listening to music, most of the time i was tin to sorta rock bands like Blur, Oasis etc..

From about 1996 onwards - I always liked the odd commercial charting electronic track (mostly trance). Stuff by Robert Miles, DJ Quicksilver, Faithless, ATB, Fragma. - that sorta stuff.

But in 1999 when quite a lot of decent trance started charting well over here - i would listen to that as well as the cheese. Tracks like Gouryella, Out of the Blue, Binary Finary & Adagio for Strings.

It wasnt until sort of early 2001 that i started listening to trance more than anything else. For a few months it was the more commercial stuff - it wasnt until I borrowed a cousins old MoS annual from back in 1999 (when they had quite good tracks on) - that i started listening to better stuff.

Being able to download mp3s really helped me get in to it. If it werent for them i probably never would have probably got in to trance properly because there is very little exposure for decent trance on TV/Radio. Now i have several hundred vinyls - which i wouldnt have got if it werent for downloading

It's very hard to keep up with the latest stuff as I don't typically go out that much anymore and, as you said, as far as I know it gets little coverage on TV/Radio where I am as well. I guess I'm still too new to have the ear for it, but it amazes me how you all can identify the different mixes and styles of trance so easily. Astounding.
