I listen to anything but country music, but i will listen to some country only if the setting is right and stuff like that. The only contry music that i will listen to if i have to is Hank Williams or Johnny Cash.

for me its strictly trance and underground (independent) hip hop. i got so much respect for an mc who can spit it raw off the top of his head.

I'm a DJ and a classical musician, and I used to sing in a rock band. Nothing wrong with it!

I am of the oppinion that the American Alternative sound strongly shaped the style of some Gabriel and Dresden Productions, such as Andain - Beautiful Things and Souther Sun (Gabriel and Dresden Unplugged Mix).

Personally find no enjoyment in the following genres:

Rap: I don't like hearing about hoes, bitches, money, and killing... or partying... (I know not all rap is like this)
Heavy Metal: Seems like a lot of bands just scream into the mic, a bit too hard for my tastes, almost like raw noise
Traditional Country: Find it just flat out dull... lulls me to sleep

What I do like:

Pop (hides behind fence ): I really like Michelle Branch, her guitar and voice are just very soothing to me!
R&B: Very serene sounds and vocals... good to kick back and listen to some emotion
Rock: Although this is a very inclusive genre, guys like Barenaked Ladies, Sugar Ray all do it for me.

I think the only style of music that I outright dislike to the point of not being able to enjoy it is country, beyond that I can appreciate almost any genre of music, yes, even the much maligned rap.

During a normal week I listen mainly to dance oriented music (Trance, Prog, Breaks, IDM, Chill) but I'll find myself reaching for the Smiths and Mineral (emo group) as soon as I'm on a long road trip.

My interest in music tends to run in cycles, I'll be interested in a single genre for a long period of time and then find something new to fixate on. That isn't to say that I'll entirely give up my old interest, I just won't be nearly as active in it.

Prior to Trance I was heavily into both Industrial (particularly KMFDM and their assorted side projects, Skinny Puppy, the basics) and Emo (Mineral, Sunny Day, again no surprises here for people who know) and though I don't actively look around for music of this style anymore I can still totally enjoy it...

Others I tend to dabble in more than anything, a producer or 3 here and there, variety is healthy!

I listen to all types except for rap, country and a few other genres (I pretty much avoid top 40 and anything else on the radio). This is what I listen to mostly:

Progressive trance/house/breaks
Chilled out trance/ambient
Melodic/euphoric trance
Down tempo DnB/hip hop
Jazzy/chilled DnB
Eurodance
Classical
Film Scores
Industrial
Soft rock
