My intention is to make this short...but I can't shutup when typing, so it'll probably be long (no, I'm not like this in person )
I left college to focus on getting into the interactive entertainment industry (I am an opportunist, and I felt it was the right time). Dedicated myself while working some crap job (which paid very well) and one day just decided to pack my bags and (2 days after deciding) move from Orlando, FL to San Francisco, CA and explore getting into the industry professionally...two months later and a few interviews later, I landed at the company where I'm still at today.
I am the senior producer for GameSpot Live, GameSpot.Com's dedicated video production team. I have been here at GameSpot since January 2000 - I guess leaving school when I did was the right choice after all.
Mainly, I deal with organizing the GS Live sales campaigns, partnerships (ie. WindowsMedia.com Games section), getting video features to GameSpot China so they can be broadcast on TV there, co-organize and direct live webcasts, work on huge projects, brainstorm, edit the occasional movie and work closely on BIG video features...ok, that's enough of that.
I also run our forums although it's consuming so much of my time (hard to manage 150,000 people) we are hiring someone to take over it so I can get back to my main job. And I do writing from time to time, but not as much as I used to.
I'm not a _hardcore_ gamer...I play games and know a lot about them. But I'd rather go out to see a DJ then sit home playing games, if you know what I mean. But I do know a lot about games, like the job (although work way too many hours), and I get to travel around the world from time to time.
If I ever decide to get out of this industry, I will either get into the music industry (which I would love, but I know this industry so well arelady), or I will go back to school - either at Florida State, University of Central Florida, or *gasp* if I can find a way to afford it, the University of Miami (I've been accepted to all before).
And now you know my professional life! I'm such a dork on the net - heh.
Dave
For the hell of it, here's a small pic of my building here in downtown SF.

Here's a link to a pic of my desk are in my office...I like it dark and says they are entering a party when they come in here!
