Animal Farm was a satire, true. But, dear Brian, 8th grade was 2 years ago and you probably forgot the book. This isn't a book that pokes fun at human error. This is a bok that was written to warn us about the possible outcome due to a wide spread of communism. This book may poke some sort of fun at folly, but it's a very, very, very dark satire if anything.

First of all, the general definition of a satire is something that ridicules human folly. It doesn't apply to all but it's just a general definition. Second, I know about the warning Orwell was trying to give. Satirists have goals whenever they write novels. Orwell warns us about communism, similarly to, let's say, Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland that satirizes about the insufficiency of the Victorian style of education and how children were mistreated during those times. All satirists have goals that they want the reader to understand.

Argh! Stop this! You've over-argued this point so much that you just agreed with me...sheesh!

correction...we half-agreed with each other; you admit Animal Farm is a satire and I admit it doesn't really ridicule human folly so much as other satires.

So let's drop this......

........now!

Dangit boy George dbuya s a damn fine preserdent if ya ask me....

Shoot, i aint seen a better'n since reagan...

Most people in my city dislike him very much. I was still in high school the year he was elected, and most people disliked him strongly.

If I drove out to the sticks, it would be a different story though....

When I was driving to New Orleans the other week, I decided to listen to some of the local radio stations. OUt past East Texas and into Western Louisiana I was nauseated more than once. There was this one religious station that played nothing but war propaganda songs, and songs about how great George Dubya was (at least while I was listening). New Orleans is such an awesome city though....it makes up for the rest of the state. The other stations were a lot of cajun music. I'd love to go back.

If you've never been to New orleans you're missing out. I can't even imagine how crazy marti gras must be.....

Well, I dont know where the smarter people are in the states. But just by telling you how the school system works.. it shows the lack of intelligence and education. I take Florida as an example. I dont even want to go to the voting system, which was done for the ancestors and not moderm times.
Ok to get back to the educated part. The United States scored the lowest in terms of knowledge, most ignorant and such.. all the way in the back next to Mexico.
Its shocking because we are talking about the most powerfull nation in the world here, with the most wealth, yet, it has this characteristics. No wonder in my school all the immigrants go up 1-2 grades higher, because they have taken the same classes like 1,2,3,4,5 years before, and im not kidding, especially the Japanese!

52 percent, say they believe the United States has found clear evidence in Iraq that Saddam was working closely with the al-Qaida terrorist organization.

The number that believes this country has found weapons of mass destruction is 23 percent, down from 34 percent in May, according to a poll conducted by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland.
