Remind me never to post about the Middle East conflict again...
Cripes, man! I thought I'd learn my lesson from merely reading the posts on this topic. A real lesson to learn, and Melech_Mike you are correct - I do have a sincere interest in this conflict. I think everyone in the world should, but you are also correct in stating that my knowledge on this conflict is limited. I come across articles and opinions, and I take them for what they are worth - in some instances not much, in others I give them more weight.
But as for your comments on this topic in general, it is clear you are extremely passionate about this. So passionate, in fact, that you just can't wait to pick up your weapon of choice. I sincerely hope you don't have a happy trigger finger with this eagerness you show toward reunification with your favored weapon. With such comments like this, as well as comments that I've read from you in the past, I must say that your particular views on this matter are not quite as omniscent as they should be. I know others have criticized you on this in the past, which does little to round your views on the matter. I have found that those who believe in something so strongly and as severely passionate as you tend to create a tunnel vision of sorts, and refuse not to view any other thought outside their own with sincerity. Surely you realize this is the real problem in the Middle East for both sides, and seemingly the primary reason why there is no peace. Anger stirs more anger; violence bagats more violence. However, like others, I doubt my voice will make much of a difference to you or anyone who holds such extremes (and that includes extremist groups in the Palestenians).
It truly makes me sad, however, seeing a solution that appears to be so obvious to both groups continue to allude both, though they themselves know exactly what must be done for peace to ensue but ignore regardless. I do, however, wish you well, Mike, and hope you are safe in your tour of duty. Here's to hoping you, your family members, your friends, and even your future children may never have to pick up their weapon of choice. |
very well said...
