I think its not fair how they qualify latins in here. Im a white, If im walking down the street no one will be able to notice that IM hispanic.. but just by been hispanic Im put down. Im not ashamed been hispanic but hey... it aint fair how one will be giving more access then others. And theres soemthing thats kind of funny. In my school, the top 5 kids in the class, were hispanics, so are the most of the kids in my local universities. I know lots of smart hispanics, minorities that, are in the top 10%, but just by been a minority, they were not accepted, and really that kind of got me mad. I dont find it fair to give extra points also, but to give it equal chances as any white boy. Know what I mean?!?!..

The best solution to me would seem to be not to even mention race on an application. Just do away with it and don't concern the universities with it. Male/Female is fine, but is it really any of the school's business? Schools are for academics--race/ethnicity shouldn't be important. Also, what is to happen to all of the 'special interest' scholarships and grants given away to minorities every year? Isn't that a bit unfair to us whities?

Everything is unfair to everybody ... sheesh, just like Shakkra said, leave the box where it says race unchecked.

I doubt that's quite how it works in every situation, but I bet that at age 18, having a dad who was an alum and potential big donor(He wasn't even near presidential status yet) was a good credential to have.
