excellent excellent advice.. u must get to know the ppl you want to work for if ur a no-namer. as said earlier, in this business, it really DOES matter who you know, there are a million and one bedroom dj's out there who have got the talent to be club-worthy, the problem is they sit around and wonder what they should be doing and how to get into the scene, u guys can take advantage of them wasting their time by you guys going out to the clubs, meet the promoters, try to talk to dj's, try to get to know as many people as you can. sending in demo cd's doesn't always work because people will be more inclined to think of you if they got a face/voice/etc.. to put to the name. chances are, unless u send in some crazy ass shit that no1 has ever mixed before, ur just gonna be thrown into the pile of other demo cd's that are good but not special. most ppl already figured out that if u send a demo, its gotta be good, so imagine being the club manager/promoter/booking agent, and u've got stacks of cd's that are all good, what do u do? u remember the kid that was talkin to you, or the kid that one of ur promoters got to know and recommended.. this will help you take advantage over the dj's that are just mailing their demos. its a lot of fucking work because we ain't spinning mainstream music here, so although electronic music djs are not exactly a dime a dozen, there really just isnt' enough demand to hire us all.. hope this helps a little

I wouldnt be a mobile DJ. I can't stand playing music that isn't electronic (i can stand listening to it but i only want to spin trance) so mobile djing isn't for me. I would just aim for the clubs and work till i get there.

For you it might be different depending on weather you can tolerate requests for 50 cent and N-sync then i guess it would be good expearience. (although i dont see how being a mobile dj could elp you to play @ the clubs later on...?)

Start doing parties for your friends. Not only will it give you exposure but it will get you to be more comfortable in a crowd. Over time I'm sure you'll meet some people with connections to a club.

Talk to some clubs and chip in some money with your buddys and book the club for a weekly thing. If everything works out then the club will be yours.
