hah, millions of pounds. You should open up a mixer sometime... Then you'll see what's inside. You'll see about 50 condensators of maybe each 1000µF(each 0.48$ a peace), you'll see about 190 resistors (each 0.15$ a piece), you'll see some wires sticking out(each 0.20$ a piece), you'll see a few plastic elements (all together, maybe 5$), and that is IT. Do you pay 600£ for that? All this junk is made in China or Taiwan, pioneer earns tons of money on the junk they're selling... but heey, it's your money, do what you wanna do with it, it's none of my business.

and i'm very happy with my second-hand Behringer DX 500
it was cheap and it works good for now, when i've got enough money i'll probably get a more expensive mixer with extra features and all but this mixer as a starting mixer was a good idea (for me that is..can't say anything about anyone else )

I think that's the best thing to do when you start, a second had cheap mixer. 'Cuz when you sell it again, you won't lose a huge amout of money (witch you do when you buy a cheap (=expensive) new mixer and later you have to sell it for half of the price you payd for it)

are you stupid or something.

i said millions of pounds on research and development. ie years of testing, years of finding out what djs want from a mixer and the like. companies spend a huge amount on this to get there product just right, which pioneer succeeded in doing (and behringer succeeded in stealing).

i do realise thet the finished product probably cost them about £50 to make.

You are right here, but hey if behringer can make nearly the same product (regardless that they stole it and didn't need to research - that's life, that's economy) I would go for the Behringer. The cheapest one wins when the quality is practically the same that's just the way it goes. Sure it sucks for pioneer but what are they gonna do about it? They can't sue Behringer (as stated somewhere in this thread) because all mixers look-a-like and pioneer wouldn't stand a chance of winning such a law-suit. It's like the real Coca-Cola and al those hundreds of fake cokes that have been sued, but never beaten.

yea... pioneer won't be able to sue unless the innards of the behringer are the same as a djm500/600, which they aren't seeing as how a behringer is 24 bits in comparison with 16 bits of djms. They're not using the same wiring and circuitry (exactly) inside the mixer, which from a legal standpoint means they're not copying because this mixer may look the same, but is different - even slightly.
Seeing as how mixers can look alike very easily for many mixers, it would be a hard fought court case.
I don't frankly care that behringer may make quality products, thats easy when you basically copy a long-standing quality product.
Their mixer's good purchase, but only because they didn't have to spend any money on r&d, and their only costs are raw materials.
However, for the amount of time pioneer's had this mixer on the market, you would expect a drop in price, seeing as how these things have sold since last decade and most likely have paid off all the work that went into. Obviously they're looking for more profit from the name now. Simply because, when has pioneer even had a long-standing name in the dj world since these mixers came out?

Gah... enough of that.
Get the behringer if you're short on cash, its a good deal, is the bottom line. Whats done is done.
