i never said it was brilliant or worthy of oscar awards but i guess we all have different movie tastes so there is no point in arguing what's actually good or not

First of all, I thought about the question of the first EMP blast in the Matrix 1 immediately and I thought that the author did a poor job of dispelling that argument. He claims that it's possible that they, the humachines, "woke up" after the blast without realizing their period of unconsciousness. I find two faults with this argument ... first, an EMP blast does not merely render electronics "unconscious." It essentially induces damage by producing a tremendous surge in current or voltage that overheats or even melts the electronic device. Therefore they should have been destroyed. However, if you make the assumption that they have adaptive, damage control devices caapble of self-repair (a very large assumption), then why didn't the sentinels (who would be similarly equipped one would like to think) wake up at the same time that the "humans" did? Maybe this guy addressed this issue but I'm too lazy to read every post in that thread.

werd man..obviously some disillusional idiots in here have no clue

anyway...who the fuck is "galvatron"? is this guy supposed to convince me that the matrix story is so "Great?" gimme a fucking break, wtf is so special about the story? the only thing that keeps me awake in these movies are the action/special effect scenes...the acting, plot, the pointless dialogue are terrible...at least for reloaded...the first one was at least ok

pointless dialogue? i thought it was pretty much deeper than the usual crap action movie and manages to get the audience a lot more mindfucked than pretty much every action movie out there. plus there is a lot of scientifical basis on it, even if it doesn't have such a great finish like that dude wrote. for example, that hacking thing which finally ended the 3-d hacking bullshit in hollywood. (i know this is just a small detail)

i mean.. it may be over-rated in a different point of view from someone who doesn't like the movie. but it's not shite by any means. it's a lot more than just action and special effects, it's miles ahead of your usual action movie or usual sci-fi movie.

oh, and that EMP thing, this is just a movie ffs. the EMP's or whatever in a movie don't have to exactly be like in real life. movies twist sometimes a few physical laws, and even if matrix has a scientifical basis, it doesn't mean it has to be 100% accurate.

Well then the guy's entire argument still falls to pieces because he's basing his predictions upon the movie adhering to scientific fact, issac assimov's law of robotics, etc.

Essentially, in order for his argument to make sense, the emp should have the same effect on neo and others as it does on the sentinels ... it doesn't, so his argument doesn't make sense.

so i guess if a writer throws in some philosophical jibberish it makes the movie more deeper? i dunno, i thought the first half of reloaded with all the dialogue was pretty lame, i almost walked out of the theater after sitting through that...and yes, plot/dialogue/acting is far more important than the action/sci fi scenes but obviously keanu's horrifying acting, the pointless love story between trinity and neo (combined with that whole "rave"/love scene),the random philosophical gibberish that made you go "huh?" just didn't do it for me personally...

*is it just me or does lawrence fishburne just not sound right shouting outloud during that one zion scene? his voice sounded just ridiculous i think he should stick to speaking normally

i know it's already been explained, but here was my view (short and to the point)

The Architect attempted to create a world of perfection. However, one thing always came in that would lead to the destruction of their own society, and that was the balance of good and evil. In every society with people who have emotions, beliefs, questions and answers, there will be rebuttal. And so this lead to the eventual destruction of society and the fall of "an empire." When Neo meets the Architect, he realizes that this clockwork was about to happen. time to erase a failed perfect society and start all over.
Neo can never fully destory Smith, and vice versa, as doing so would possibly cause an error that good/evil no longer existed. system crash, and time to make a version 6,7,8....

should i buy wolfenstein or allied assault?

Well basically, he's saying that it knocks out the robots for a short period of time... Therefore when they used the emp in the first movie it cut out and the next thing u saw was neo with trinity... so It could have knocked them out for a certain amount of time, and that part just wasn't shown...

well, it didn't seem random philophical jibberish to me, more like a big puzzle where every philosophical mention fitted very well. about the acting i dunno really, i can't distinguish good acting from bad acting, lol.

what i meant is that the movie(s) was made too well to be considered as "the most overrated film is history".. it was innovative (talking about matrix 1, not reloaded) by almost creating a new kind of movie, it's like sci-fi, action, mindblowing special effects AND a great story, very based on scientific facts and culturally rich, or at least way richer than your usual action movie. that's why i think that either you liked or not the movie, even knowing it still is a mega hollywood production and how things are so commercially made, you have to respect it as good piece of art. it may not be the best movie ever (even if it's my personal fav) but it's above average at least.

just my 2 cents

well, i've tried to read that thread on the other forum, and there was a few big loop-holes found in that theory (one of them is what you just said here), so i dunno whether to believe in that ending or not anymore. but for sure i like that theory, it would be a great way to end the trilogy.

Don't you think the humachines would have noticed something by now if they all passed out after an emp blast? It's not like it's a new technology, they've probably been using it for quite a while in the fight against the machines. Are you saying that no two hovercraft fights against sentinels together such that they never see the effect of an emp blast against one another? Also in reloaded, one of the crewmen gets impaled by the falling gangblank ... I could have sworn there were copious amounts of blood going everywhere and no circuitry.

That's a good point, but maybe they are programmed to see each other as human, and there really is no blood? I don't know exactly, I'm terrible at this stuff, but I think minus the few holes in this guys theory, if it is the real ending and the bros cover these holes, I think it's a great ending, as it comes from out of nowhere
