The synth used in ATRC sounds far better in quality.. which suggests to me they couldn't have used it as a sample (if that's what you're actually suggesting) - they may have copied that bassline pattern to their synth. but I dunno.

Even if this is true... It's only a bassline in TWO keys.. it's not exactly a complex riff or pattern... in the sweeping strings mix the bassline changes through more than just two keys.. so.. unless they used that sample (which I doubt) and have some very advanced pitch alteration software... this could quite easily be a big coincidence.

I must hear this sample! Anyone still have it?!!!

No matter what the outcome is, ATRC is still a monster ch00n. I would be alittle ashamed of G&D, but they have made other quality tunes, so I'd still love em for that

imo, how good a song is doesn't depend on the complexity of the sounds used to make it! Heck, if josh&dave really did base motorcycle off this sample, more power to them for being able to make such a great song from a simple sample. I think the best producers are the ones that are able to arrange instruments/sounds/synths so that they compliment each other.

but yea, as ppl have pointed out already, the sample from Magix Music Maker is much poor in quality, and is much simpler.

Could just be a genuine coincidence. The sample is quite simple, and therefore it would be quite easy to produce a similair sounding bassline without knowing.

Gotta agree with the minority here, who cares? Coincidence or not, it doesn't matter. There's a new thread atleast once a week stating someone ripped off someone/something else. Enjoy the music ffs instead of turning everything into a conspiracy.
