I really wish KTU would dissassociate itself from dance music, its just insulting...

I actually turned on KTU after reading this post and heard Duncan Sheik - I'm on a High also...

Then they paused to go to Temptations club in Jersey...the person whow as there was screaming on the radio "aaaaaaaappppaaaaa", you know like in that old school song "Boriqua Posse" that was around in 1991...after hearing him do that then go into calling people "Papi" and "Mami" i almost ripped my radio out of my car....utter ghetto cheese white Jersey trassssshhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

KTU needs to stick with their regular vocal cheese and high pitvhed synth tracks and stay the F*CK outta our music...they give us a bad name...after listeing for short time that i did, i know why some people say trance music is gay and cheesey...i mean the only thing they are exposed to is that Gino Jersey crap....and NO i do not want good trance to be played on KTU...let the morons and Sandstorming listeners stick with Zombie Nation....freaken toools that they are.

ktu is a joke, which is why people are pissed off about it. they play pure guido cheese shit when it comes to playing the music they THINK is quality dance music. wlir (92.7) on the other hand, wouldn't be so bad because on certain nights they'll have a whole time slot just for dance music and it isn't bad at all. i was actually introduced to xpander on that station a few years ago.

I agree. I liked the track for a week or two after it started bein played. But its definitely not even in my top 100 tracks of all time. It went in and out like a lot of other tracks.

I think people would be happy if there was a 1 hour slot devoted to armin van buuren's asot radio show on the us radio station or something of the sort, but overplaying one popular song doesn't cut it for the trance genre going mainstream. Look what happened to Dirty Vegas - Days Go By...

and not that I ever liked the track, but Alice Deejay - whatever it was called got so overplayed it became really god damn annoying after awhile...

It's great hearing an amazing trance song on mainstream radio, but fitting it in between all the other us pop music is a little disrespectful... and the radio station plays many songs in one genre, for trance we'll only have one w/ this tune...

i have a comment to make on this subject

when i started making music, my intention was to make the best music possible and reach as many people who would listen.

with that in mind, i'm very fucking elated that wktu is playing my song. lets hope that perhaps ATRC will turn people on to a more honest sound that is saying something.

i think that many of the elitist attitudes towards radio playing "club songs" is really childish, stupid and downright ignorant.

good music is good music, damn, hopefully as the rush comes will take some spins away from lasgo and Ian Van Dahl - music that was made for nothing more than financial gain.

cheers

- dave

That's pretty much what I said hehe.

I think it is an "elitist" attitude. Trance fans always acuse progressive fans of being elitist, but it's evident that many trance fans are as well. That's another issue though. Part of the problem is selfishness, and the desire to keep a good thing "underground."

I agree with you for the most part though. If I'd never heard Xpander, and some of Sasha's (chem bros, and prodigy's) early stuff from a video game series (wipeout for PS), I might not even be here. I think most people are just upset that it's played alongside such top 40 crap.

Dave well said...

I "AM" one of those elitist people that you speak of....

Please do not get me wrong...i love ATRC and 99.9% of everyother production you are involved in...so i want to make that clear.

But the audience that listens to KTU here in NY and NJ "will not" be turned by "ANY" track..no matter how good it is....I know these type of people and they are unredeemable. They will always be stuck in their Beyonce, Jay-Z, Eminem, NSYNC, Britney commercial "we like a track because it is the cool thing to do at the moment" ways.

These people are FORCE fed tracks day in and day out...tracks get raped on KTU, and most radio stations. Played 45 times in 24 hours...of course after hearing something long enough it grows on you. I mean i ended up finding ymself singing along to Eminem a few times, not ebcause i liked it, but because it was engraved into my mind from these corporate mongrals.

Radio kills good tunes, noone can deny that. Yes the artist tends to come out on top, but at what cost? You don't hear much of Zombie Nation, or MARRS anymore...those 2 probally had the most plays of any other eletro song in history...yet seemed more liek that killed them...too much of a good thing tends to be a bad thing.

If i have an elitist attitude so be it, but i think it more of the fact that i don't want good music ruined...which in the end 90% of original ATRC fans will be bored and disgusted of the track after being FORCE fed it on the radio a million times a day.

I just pray Andain doesnt end up on KTU....i think i will shoot myself.....

GO move to NYC and give that station a listen to for awhile and THEN make that comment again. Again this isn't really about your song for me, its about that station and how it portray's itself.
