I have to say i don't aggree fully with your opinion about all music is not made with love for music but only for money, you are focusing on the famous people, for example last time i saw this clip of a guy called Pete Philly, on a channel Called The Box, it was such a great hiphop track, it was really warren G sounds with nice lyrics( i love warren G)now he ain't famous because i never heard a track before from him, but i could hear this guy was really trying to make nice music, if you compare that with busta ryhmes or something, you know in an instant that busta made real fast a lame track to make more millions.

And its not that fault of the artist, that he makes lame tracks, he makes 1 good track (which is his first track) to promote his name, and then make stupid ones to keep cashing in, so tell your sister to stop buying idols crap

While I agree trance is very good music, you have to look beyond radio played music in other genres. If we take radio trance and compare it to radio hard rock, you'll notice they both suck. There is plenty of great/amazing non-trance music (yes it's good without vocals), you just have to look harder.

i disagree.. nowadays, edm producers focus on sound and less on melody.. bach and beethoven were very limited in terms of ability to create different sounds, they had a limited number of instruments to compose their music.. that's what makes them genious, they produced incredible pieces with those very few instruments.. now, producers have access to so much more sounds and effects, so that the need to compose an extremely intelligent melody has disappeared.. to make sure all these different sounds and effects sound well together is an art, that is true, but in my opinion it is not as complicated as what bach had to do.. in other words, i wouldn't compare them to composers of a few centuries ago, because back then music was far more intelligent..

i know what you mean. one of my friends at school who is a guitar major seems to "look down" on EDM. this guy knows good music when it comes to his fav genres (classical, jazz, rock, alternative or whatever). he's got a good sense for music and tries to openminded but when it comes to EDM he just doesn't put in the effort to get it.
when he first found out that i liked other types of music and knew good artists outside of the electronica spectrum he seemed surprised. it seems like he finds it (at first)weird that i'm into elliot smith or the beatles or bach or whatever.
one time i remember we were driving around and he was fliping thru the radio stations and he came to some cheesey clubby trancey stuff that was being played, and he's like "hey isn't this like the stuff you like?" i laughed my ass off. and said "thats like me turning on goo goo dolls and saying hey isn't this the stuff you like?"

anyway

too many people put down EDM just because they don't take the time to get into it and really understand it, just like many of the people posting here don't seem to take the time to get to know hiphop or other forms of music. there is sooooooooooo much good music out there in different genres. EDM is a new an unique thing because it incorporates so many new sounds and offers the producer so much more freedom to create than other forms of music. but it doesn't have the ability of the artist to really deliver soul or emotion thru an instrument (altho you can counterargue that a DJ sort of takes this role by playing the right song at the right moments).
lyrics are more sound to add to the music to add more elements to it. they also have the ability of communicating messages to people. alot of the great lyricists like bob dylan were like musical poets.
i for one am not naturally drawn to lyrics because i'm not to big on that whole vocal communication thing. and i think thats a major reason i'm so drawn to electronic music. when i hear vocals i don't want them to make sense. i want ot hear the beauty of the voice.

The main aspect of music that people forget is that ALL music is the same, it all follows the same rudimentary rules. Genres are simply a way that our society has allowed people to brand themselves and be defined.

With this in mind, I can listen to a "mix" by Bach (ever notice how symphonies are a heck of a lot like live sets) and a "mix" by Gabriel and Dresden and find TONS of similarities. The difference between the two is my definition of Trance: It's not just a genre of music, it's the popular (dance) evolution of music with respect to the instruments that are used and manipulated. In that way, G&D are better than Bach, because they've managed to overstep the boundaries of regular instruments and create synthesized music (obviously every other Trance artist does so as well).

So anyways, Trance is better because it is breaking the boundaries of traditional music, which sets it apart VERY distinctly.

great post..but..i disagree bout how only trance is the best music.......imo..i find rock close to one of the best music genre..but i am not talking bout rock bands such as linkin park...bands like nine inch nails..tool....a perfect circle.

you're completely right ,electronic music can give U such a special feeling. People who don't like this music will never understand that.
Electronic music is not just something temporary like rap for exemple. It has been there for more than 12 years now and it's popularity is still growing. I'm sure that within a couple of years beside the hard rock cafe there's the TA cafe
