i am going to throw something out that i have always felt about glow's management and loyal following....
they like to overinflate some good producers of good music, and mistake them very sadly for amazing djs. sorry people, most of these producers that your obsess about are only strongly talented in the areas of production. i dont want to be offensive and mention which DJs, or which TAs...... but this is a serious trend among Glow fanatics. yes, glow is the best promotion going on in DC.... but it has much room for improvement in who they are bringing in.
those that got famed for productions sooner than DJing in MOST cases are really only strong in the production arena.
i will mention one and only one example.... to spare the feelings others. ferry corsten, who once upon a long time ago used to be my favorite man in the scene (because i discovered in like 98 or 99 that all my favorite songs were produced by him w/ his million aliases), is really not much of a DJ. in fact, his productions have been very varied and inconsistently good and bad as of late. but as a dj, he doesnt know what hes doing. he knows how to drop tracks on you.... but he just watches you and smiles and shit like that. . does not know how to control the crowd the way a good DJ does. one time i saw him at glow, he was too busy flirting with chicks and would get on the decks and mixer for like the 30 secs he mixed and then let every song play for its full 9 minutes.....
hint. a similar case has been mentioned by some of you overhyping good producers as DJs...
and sorry to irritate, but PvD is da man, thats why some of us just can't quit

im curious as to whether this is in agreement with what i said or in disagreement?
anyhow, G&D make some quality tracks.... and my comment is intended to be non-specific.
i just know that Glow-goers are always getting "owned" by all these artists, and I say artists, because that is their strength, not DJing. its also kind of in response to this anti-pvd bullshit, as a defense for him, and his fans. because although many of us adore his productions, he is a DJ and will always be a DJ, who has a way of coming across to move crowds everywhere. so although pvd doesn't own me, but definitely has me as a bigtime fan.... i think at least the hype over SEEING HIM LIVE is much more justified than some of the "DJs" that the pvd dissers like.
in a nutshell, if to you a live set is solid because it includes songs you like to listen to.... save the club tickets and buy a nice soundsystem and get owned. this is not what djing is about- regardless of the fact that i do enjoy what pvd plays.
sorry if my words are confusing. im trying to be clear but its tough. i dont intend to be offensive.... its more a justification that sheds light on some unjustified attitudes.... in the end, its all up to you.

no offense, but it isn't just glow people who are "owned" Frankly every review I read has someone saying they died, they were owned, they were killed, etc...Don't blame the clubs for overhyping the producers, look around at the people here. They are the true hype machines. People here, for some reason, go beyond just enjoying the set and have to place the dj/producer on some kind of pedestal. I don't want to say PvD, because frankly, yes, people idolize him to death, but they also do the same for a ton of other djs. I think by now that it just has to be expected that when someone new and fresh is coming to play for the 1st time or even for the 10th time people are going to hype it up and the management is going to try and do the same because hype = $$$ You see the ARC promoters here for the same reason for the hype and to bring in $$$. Just take a look at threads in every forum and you will see hype all over and people saying they die for tracks and they will sell their 1st born for a vinyl. Don't just blame promoters because we are just as guilty of taking everything to the extreme.
