Oakie's goa phaze was when he did his best work, IMHO.

BTW, the spelling is way off in this thread, lol!

i haven't really heard many mixes from him so can't comment much.. but from the tracklists:

why in hell does he keep mixing shit tunes with some of the finest deepest tracks around? like.. all those pop song remixes (there is nothing wrong with pop songs remixes, unless you persist on playing a lot of them everytime in your sets). Maybe he's trying to balance his fame from the Bunkka pop crap with the good underground stuff.. trying to bring new fans to the electronic music world? that's a good thing but those tracklists.. just look damn weird

must remember to download a few recent oakie sets..

Never seen him live. Protools or not...i still enjoy his Stateside live sets. and the comment about Americans listening to music wrong.......wtf just because they dont play electronic music on every one of our radio stations doesnt mean we cant point out a good mix

get a fucking grip man
seriously
I don't know which eddie halliwell you've been seeing, but nearly everytime I've seen him (which is coming into double figures now), he's been fucked out of his face, been unable to mix, and does this dodgy scratching which is completely unnecessary
Oakie may do the same as regards to turning up fucked, but at least he plays half decent records and doesn't pretend to know how to scratch

i think oakeys dj carreer is coming slowly to an end imo. i dunno but maybe he got burned out mixing for like 20 years and now just wants to move on to do different things. you can actually see that phase hes going through. he now makes scores for flicks and , i heard somewhere forgot where, he is interested in doing acting or some shit. i dunno but it seems like hes just exploring different things now. i gotta give him credit though, he doesnt stay within one industry to get limited, he keeps broadning his interests.
he for sure is a legend in my book. all the things hes has done for the trance scene is unparalleled.
damn i wanna listen to his live set cuz it sure feels different than his radio shows and i havent heard one from him in a long long time.

wrong. you can mix very easily in pro tools
you can set tracks to the same BPM and a whole heap of stuff

don't listen to everything you hear

It's not what Oakenfold is doing, regardless of whether it's possible. I think it'd actually be easier to line up the pitch and beats on turntables then in Pro Tools.

Poakenfold may not play how he used to... but he is still one of the biggest names in the industry and has played some of the greatest sets ever. He is a legend of the trance genre and the entire DJ scene and forever will be.
