SF looks quite good for events! Better than I expected and looking forward to going now as there seems to be a scene there! What is is with tickets then? Are they physical tickets, or just reference numbers to give on the door, can you get tickets there and then on the door etc.? How early should I book them?

Do these places have dress codes? Is it funky, jeans, t-shirt, (I assume no smart shirts?) cyber?

Ruby Skye is dress to impress at all times and they are pretty strict about it.

The other two main places, 1015 and The Mezzanine, are pretty much come as you are.

As far as tickets, you can take chances and buy at the door or you can or you can pre-order.

Groovetickets.com is the main place that most tickets are sold.
Ruby Skye sells its tickets through Ticketweb.com
For the Mezzanine, it varies...depends on the promoter.

Basically you just get something you print out and bring with you (just in case -- trust me, always bring it!) and you also need to bring the credit card you used (When you use Groovetickets, they actually swipe the card at the door and it lets them know how many tickets you bought).
