Here in Italy the only way to buy some trance is on-line...

Actually, in Toronto it's much cheaper to buy records online (factoring in shipping as well) than it is to get them locally. A 12" from Chemical records or Juno is not more than $15 (factoring in shipping) whereas the average record price in a local store is about $18-20 (after tax).

Online selection is also much, much better. Especially for less popular genres like psytrance. That's almost non-existent in Toronto (actually, it WAS non-existent, until Outer Space opened with an alright selection -- about two bins -- but they still specialize in Hardcore).

Recently Dance Arena closed where I live which leaves us with one shop basically only getting in breakbeat and hip hop. Mind you since I discovered online ordering I'd been buying less and less from stores.

I log on, get cheaper records (inc P&H) from chem than I'd pay at a store. I can get stuff way way ahead of time and like has been mentioned, I can basically find anything I want eventually.

Online by a mile.

i order all my records online now, id prefer to do it thru a local store but dont for reasons stated already. in auckland there are 5 record stores, one mainly prog, two hard dance, one house and one breaks.

why do i choose online?

- so so much cheaper, i save 4-8 NZ dollars on each record
- faster - you can listen to long clippits online and get a good feel for the tune - dont have to waste my lunchbreak anymore

negatives.....
- dont get that cool feeling of hearing a fresh new tune and then buying it and walking out with it, just aching to get home
- dont build good relationships with record store ppl who are almost always djs or promoters as well (or in the 'circle')
