You dont agree Tek? Listen to St. Anger man. They are going back to their old style. I know that over the past few years they released few shit singles like 'I Disappear', but thats what they were.. just singles, and usually for soundtracks. Metallica made so many good albums, even after they went mainstream. I don't think they sold out, because they always continued to make good music and set standards. People were shit talking them about going mainstream, but they went mainstream. Guess what happened? THE BLACK ALBUM! One of the best albums EVER created. Now, St. Anger takes them back in time to their harder days, AND IM FUCKIN LOVING IT! |
No I don't agree. Are you talking about St. Anger the song or the CD? Because that song blows, it's totally confused as to what genre it is. They play hard as fuck in the beginning then it goes all soft and into almost some punk shit. "Frantic" is annoying too.
You see Metallica at the MTV video awards? They were a cover band, playing shit like Michael Jackson! Lars is one of the biggest ******s I can think of. First he bitches about Napster then he bitches about the military using Metallica's music as a torture weapon against Iraqi prisoners. Listening to their music today is pretty much torture for me so I don't see why he's bitching. I really don't see how a band can be so hardcore and have somebody like him in it.
P.S. The song "St. Anger" would be so much better if it stayed as hard as it does during the opening.

I'm talking about the album. Metallica did start out much harder than they were at the peak of their careers. However, the stuff that came out of that 'softer' side was and is still incredible. Awesome lyrics, great guitars, Newstead's incredible basslines, and Lars' awesome drum skills. I do agree that Lars is a fag about all that complaining about Napster, he was the last person I would ever think would sue them. However, him being a fag has nothing to do with Metallica not playing good or making good music. He is still one of the best drummers, right behind Danny of Tool, and Joey of Slipknot. About Metallica doing the covers of different songs @ MTV VMA's, i thought it was awesome. This hard-rock/metal band gets in front of millions and millions of 14 year-old teenage TV viewers and POP icons that are present in the arena, and makes them shit their pants. They made everything sound very hard, yet played everything so well. Younger viewers needed to see this because it is the only way they will discover true music, and forget Britney and Backstreet Boys. Now, about St.Anger (the song) being weak, i disagree. It does get a bit softer throught the song, however the bass is so damn good and I love James' lyrics too.
