| quote: | | Well.. i usually love tiesto.. he makes gr8 music, and he has sets beyond perfect.... but when i heard Magik 7.. i was hella disapointed... he had a lack choice of trax... and i really really didn't like it... but then i heard the club eau second year anniversary... OMG!!.. defenatlly one of his best sets this year! |
agreed. magik 7 sucks. the tracks are good just not his style. especially following up on magik 6! magik 6 was epic greatness, epic trance at it's best (at least the tracks he could have chosen from for this album, ie the latest tracks) and then these songs were just like, ugh, no!
but then you said: C'mon... dont be stupid.. he hasn't played this tune in ages now!!...
uhm...i was told by a friend who saw him @ the Texas Zenfest June 9, 2001, he played the track that night. end of story.

There's a lot of variance in a DJ when he plays live...
...best example I have is DJ Jean. Was at one trance gathering, and he seemed so unmotivated, he actually used the mic "Bass in the place, people!"
However, after DJ Jean LIVE! @ TranceEnergy, I gotta say the man is closer to a god! He went back to his old day DMC style mixing! He knew those tracks in and out! And what BPM was he playing at? Not 140, that's for sure! Best set I've heard in ages...
...with regards to Tiesto, he and Lars Holte of 'In Trance We Trust' fame (amongst others) played in my booth a while back... and Lars was definately the better mixer. I think most people appreciated his track choice better as well, but that's got nothing to say when they both had the same stuff with them... (or maybe it does?)
Tiesto isn't a 'creative' mixer to such a degree that some other DJ's are, but hey, trance DJ's aren't usually known as former DMC World Champs either! (That's why they put the T in trance! Or whatever...)

Heehee... forgot to say that Tiesto isn't really up my alley at the mo either... as DJ or Producer... I loved and respect his earlier work, which was what makes us TA's, but with Flight 643? I could've played that high synth part on my gear when I was 11, honestly!
(I've worked with people like DJ Prince & Justin K. with 'Got To Have', which I've been told was No.1 on the US Dance Chart for several weeks and is one of Klubbheads favorite tracks, featured on their Desire double album from last year).
Ah well, everyone has a right to change their style...

good lord! tiesto is a decent producer, THAT'S IT! other than that, the man is mediocre behind the decks, with a lacklustre style and so-so mixing skills. go listen to pappa, howells, s&d, warren, deep dish, seaman, ect... and *then* tell me tiesto even comes close to the talent than any of the above have. the man is way over rated, plain and simple.
ohhh, and i'm sorry, but magik 1 thru 6 were and are pure cheese. in search of sunrise two was his only album even worth listening to (still boring as hell, i have freinds who can make better mixed tapes).
ohhh, and ferry corsten sucks too (cause i haven't pissed off enough people on the board already ) |
i dont think he's overrated but he does have skillzz i feel da same way as u man about other dj's coz every1 lately is talken about Tiesto, only 1 Tiesto, DA TRANCE MASTER, blablabla...certainly he's got skillz, but not da best..i luv Nick Warren as well, from listening 2 his GU series and a couple of livesets, they certainly blow Tiesto's sets, im serious and Warren is not a rated dj as well, which i think he deserves a lot of respect in da world same for Seaman GU series 2 me r da best collections of trance/house/techno/breakbeats tunez
