Simple deductive logic will tell you that if everyone had that attitude that there wouldn't be an on-line music community at all. It's only through the unselfishness of the rippers and webmasters that leechers like you can continue to thrive. None of the people involved in the on-line music community have any responsibility to you whatsoever, so if you don't like the music that people are uploading then by all means leave it. There a plenty of leechers who do appreciate what is provided for them, and these are the people that the community is providing for. I don't want to get into a fight, and I have nothing fundamentally against you, but you're going to have to reassess where it is that you stand.
| quote: | | Oh, and Renegade: Are u a part of homeofmusic? It seems like you have some pretty strong opinions about it... |
You could say that.
| quote: | | HoM had music? Man I wouldnt know, could never find tha shit! |
It's not as difficult or dramatic as many of you are making out. When you go into the site, just click on "MUSIC" at the top of the screen (yes, it's in big, bright capital letters) and then select the date you want to download the music from. It's hardly rocket science.
| quote: | | HOM has a lot of music, yes, but the excessive 'begging' for clicks throughout the site is tiresome - and having the forums located on 'HomeOfMoney.com' makes you wonder... |
I think to suggest that he 'begs' for clicks is a bit over the top. Currently he doesn't have any real sponsers anyway, and you can hardly blame the guy for expecting a few clicks seeing as he has to pay for much of his on-line storage space (i.e. I'm fairly sure he has to pay for the privilage of uploading the mp3's to where he does). And even if that weren't the case, you have to remember that Rrebel spends 50 hours a week on the site, and all he gets in return for it is a few measly cheques from all advantage and his sponsors, which are usually invested straight back into the site anyway. So I have absolutely no problems with clicking on a few sponsors if by doing that I allow the site to continue existing.
| quote: | | They regularly stripped out all details pertaining to the MP3 group that released a track and instead threw their URL on practically every line of the ID3 tag.. |
Personally I don't see this as all that big a deal, seeing as the vast majority (i.e. 99%) of tracks that are uploaded have been sent to Rrebel, and much of the time have been ripped, by members of the forum. I fail to see this as a major issue, but at the same time I can understand completely where it is that you're coming from.
| quote: | | I used to go to that site, because that was one of the first ones that I would find some new trance songs from, but it was very annoying how everything was zipped, and then when you would unzip it, it would have a tag with the homepage of HOM. It was very annoying when I tried to organize mp3's (got gbs full of MP3s). |
It really isn't that hard to rename a file. The majority of mp3's I own have been downloaded from myplay, and I'm sure you all know how badly the files are named when you download them. Much of the time it's impossible to tell what the track actually is! (For instance, G Park - Decedance becomes G.mp3). But I also realise that just because I have to spend 10 seconds renaming the file and the mp3 ID tags that it's no reason to stop using a great musical resource like myplay. The benefits by far outweigh the costs.
Anyway, I don't want to get into any arguments here. I'm just putting forward my points of view, and I understand completely if you disagree with them.
